What an asshole. That she prioritized her kid would make much more likely to support her (if I could)!

Sure. That @abigailspanberger.com is giving such a prominent position to someone who gave comfort and counsel to those who seek to stop the housing we need for families and next generations - it makes me question her commitment to her affordability agenda.

Represented the 9 plaintiffs but does it matter? He chose to take their $$$ and the case. Plenty of lawyers in VA for the case and for this role. It's an insult to localities like Arlington actually trying to do something about housing options and affordability.
Not sure how to reconcile Spanberger's affordability agenda with her appointment of one of the architects of litigation that seeks to delegitimize Virginia localities' ability to build and fight the housing affordability crisis.
Americans are caught in a cruel game of βmusical chairsββforced to compete, and compromise, no matter how much money they have.
Itβs a sticky problem, but the fix is simple: more home choices π―
I'm sure he's a great attorney but I'm not thrilled a lawyer who argued to overturn Arlington's Expanded Housing Options ordinance will be @abigailspanberger.com chief legal counsel when we desperately need housing options and affordablity. Is she serious about expanding housing?
Maureen gets it - we need to live our values!
A review of our local gov't needs to meet & exceed good gov't values of inclusion, community engagement, a focusing of our efforts, & identifying how we're going to support and pay for it.

Screenshot of a tweet from Volunteer Arlington, which reads βThose looking to offer support in response to the tragic air crash at DCA should monitor @ArlingtonVA & Volunteer Arlington's social media to learn the best ways to provide assistance if it is needed. Please avoid the site to allow first responders to focus on recovery efforts.β Tweet includes a graphic which repeats the same text.
I know many are looking for ways to help and support after last nightβs tragedy at DCA. Volunteer Arlington and Arlington County will have more. (Iβll try to xpost)
Please stay tuned as response is ongoing. Our first responders continue their work and we are extremely grateful for their efforts.

I'm so just so sad for those who lost their lives last night at DCA and their families. I'm thankful for our DC, Maryland, Virginia, and federal first responders.
C'mon CTRL+SALT+DEL and Taylor Drift, let's get it together!
Psst.....it's snowing out there!
Happy New Year!
This seems...great! I'm excited to learn more about both the applications and dig into the new expedited site plan review process (for such proposals) that can help build more housing while maintaining community priorities for things like open spaces.

Housing may cost way too much in Arlington but we live rent free in the minds of our friends to the south!
And getting more aggressive about pedestrian safety!
With all due respect, making sure people can live here and stay here (housing affordability and supply) and if they choose, raise kids here (childcare costs and availability) should be Arlington's 2025 priorities.

Very little, apparently!
Yeah, those tend to get outsized attention. LTTEs don't adequately represent the community in the same way attendance at a government meeting fails as well. But elections do. I think Alexandria knew what it was voting for in Alyia Gaskins.
Love your work here, but also: the hair is spectacular!
The order is quite a mess, IMO. It takes an overly formalistic approach that seems to be wholly inconsistent with existing law. There's nothing progressive about using your privilege to elbow people out of our community.
Arlington, VA (as do other localities) has an affordable housing investment fund (loan funding) that is generally a tertiary funding source. LIHTC financing has made mixed income proposals scarce, although income mixing has helped diversify units so not all are 60% area median income. #ArlingtonVA
Here's an opportunity coming this Monday, 11/19. You can attend and make a public comment (if you'd like!) on a proposal to build affordable housing near Crystal City. #arlingtonva

In Arlington, VA, folks usually ask what the County is doing. We should! But what's our local legislative delegation doing too?!
The best time to start advocating for affordable and attainable housing in your community was yesterday. The next best time is today!
nvaha.org
And our state delegation to prioritizing making housing easier to build (single staircase bills!) over legislation that's clearly intended to just make it harder and more expensive (like Delegate Patrick Hope's historic preservation law that threatens to slow every new housing project).
Yay!!!
Don't worry, they spent 300m on electric buses!
