More autonomous driving in #BBC reports: "a worker was hit by a car that ignored the closure". Absurd description! Can #BBC distinguish at all between a car and a driver?

No #NationalExpress here on Bluesky?
Anyway, a driver forced me to stop to avoid a collision as I was #cycling north on London Rd #Brighton.
Huge coach, normal size shopping street.
No driver awareness of minimum overtaking width 1.5m in #HighwayCode.
Dangerous behaviour.

How about a technological solution e.g. a log-in with password and facial recognition like on a computer, or Government Gateway identification etc.?
A small poster says "Farmers market is at primary school". Behind that a banner saying "Steyning Farmers Market" (partly obscured. Behind that a large screen which usually gives obvious information is out of order, showing a reflection of me as I take the photo.
Glad to see that #Steyning can manage despite that screen being out of order! Reverting to trusted methods like banners and writing.
I hate those big obstructive screens which have been put all over Brighton, as well as here in the small West Sussex town of Steyning.
New Sunderland-made Nissan LEAF qualifies for Β£3,750 discount under governmentβs EV grant in a boost for North East manufacturing Vs Rachel Reeves to curb high-end bike purchases in Cycle to Work scheme
Compare and contrast the Government language.
Β£3,750 EV grant on a Β£35k car: βhelping familiesβ.
Cycle to Work: βsubsidising leisureβ.
And yet cycling delivers TEN TIMES the impact of electric cars for reaching net zero. Itβs almost like narrative, not data, is driving policy.
"Walkers car park"
Ironic?
Due to NSL speeds + forbidding state of the A24 to anyone on foot/wheels/cycling? @kneppwilding.bsky.social
Will there soon be a "cyclists car park"?
(Lack of apostrophe noted!)

Disappointing re parking on the new #NCN20 A23 cycle lanes/pavement because the addresses have forecourts where ppl can park without obstructing #walking #wheeling #cycling every day!

More disappointing human behaviour. Gratuitous aggression against animals, and for what, 'likes' on a video platform?

Various road signs (about 10) indicating works, road narrows, give way etc. on road and pavement on a road marked with the instruction to "Turn Right"
Use of signs is getting completely out of control!

Has anyone seen a news report or have any info about the crash at #Falmer? Right next to #RR90 Regional Route 90 between Brighton and Lewes? Solid wall demolished, lots of car debris. Vehicle(s) must have crossed the shared path.
Pics from 20th May.
Close passes seem to be getting worse here in #Brighton. I had a private hire vehicle driver overtake me recklessly at Preston A23 roadworks last week. Photo was out of focus sadly. Lewes licenced I think. Many out of town taxis now in Brighton.
Large black SUV type vehicle parked on the left with rear offside wheel in cycle lane which leads towards the new roundabout. A sign on the left says: "New roundabout ahead. Give way to cyclists and pedestrians."
Been to #Chichester today to see the new roundabout! Everything proceeding smoothly. Looks good.
One driver seems not to have noticed the new arrangement and left their large black vehicle intruding into the cycle lane.
A length of tactile paving, badly broken due to heavy vehicles being parked on it.
I am astounded (again) at the extent to which we tolerate damage by drivers of motor vehicles.
Here, turning tactiles into crazy paving! ππ»π

A rubbish bin and a "clothes and shoes" recycling bin with a pile of clothing on the ground. Other bins are at this recycling point. A tree. a flint wall and part of a church at the back.
The contents of these collection bins always get pulled out.

A Brighton and Hove City Council van parked half on the pavement and half on a cycle lane on Preston Road.
It's always disappointing when you see one part of the council mucking up the work of another. #Brighton #ActiveTravel
@brighton-hove.gov.uk
There are many local examples in #Brighton of these abominable & obstructive screens. They should all be removed.
These obstructive screens are an unforgivable innovation. Check out #Brighton where the council (of whatever party) seems powerless to get rid of them despite universal popular support for removal.
In any case, the last thing we need is more screens.
An SUV parked on a grass verge with the caption 'Not quite what they meant by off-road'
SUVs are uneccessary in urban areas
A majority of UK car owners (59%) also agree that SUVs are not necessary in towns and cities, compared to just 20% that disagree.
This is despite research showing that three quarters of SUVs sold in UK are registered to people living in towns and cities π

Doubly ridiculous! How come we ended up allowing all these customised/ deliberately unclear reg plates? It would seem simple & obvious to have a single standard for font, colour etc. and licensed producers.
I think intermittent & unclear kerbs are a menace, but I'm watching what's being built there. Quite a deep trench by the park yesterday. More detailed plans than at the link were published. Can't remember the intended width. www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/onejourneybe...
Madeira Drive along the seafront (NCN2) is also green (though now a bit messy with car tyre tracks etc.) It might be a new standard. Previously we had red or black.

Not just in Wales, but 20mph zones are reducing insurance costs in the rest of the UK too.
Fewer collisions, fewer injuries.
