Is that a Dandadan plate?? So cool!

I've been ill so I forgot to share my wrap-up. Cool stuff in '25 included: 2nd master's degree (education), remaking my entire website into a personal wiki, and holding my first in-person exhibition. It didn't feel like I did much for the last 365, but upon reflection that clearly isn't true!!
A grid of 9 images: 8 are watercolour and digital drawings of people and characters, including fanart for Minecraft and Digital Circus, surround a picture of Amber in the middle.
My #artvsartist grid for 2025! I made a lot more art than I posted online, which is kind of a win, I think?

a risk many just can't take
I teach at several rural universities in Canada and it ain't looking good for us either. The enshittification of the job market has made this whole 'job-readiness' thing a rather tall order, and it was already a tricky situation in the arts. Good luck to you as you continue to develop your course!
Similar for my area(s). I'm constantly wondering: what are the actual skills someone needs in this field *in this era*? Perhaps hyperbolic, but I worry that if we don't get this right, we could lose a generation (or worse, generations) of professionals or whole fields to slop.
I'm trying to design the curriculum for several undergrad art & art history courses, and I can't do anything traditionally anymore. It's all about process, whereas before it was largely about outcome. Are you finding that you have to adapt the approach, assignments, methods, outcomes, all the abve?
Back at you!
Happy New Year to the like 2 people I know on bluesky ๐ โจ๏ธ ๐

Background was saved for last because ???
After that, little details are outlined and highlighted in ink and paint marker.
Getting into sharing my art process. Here's how my Pomni fanart was made!
I don't normally start out with a base drawing, but in this case I did, so I blocked out all the values first.
Then, because it's watercolour, I worked from light hued colours to darker ones.

Thanks so much! It's fun to just play around and see what works out bc this type of paint really has a mind of its own~
several unfinished watercolour illustrations on a desktop
a very blurry snapchat photo of Amber. Caption reads: "I love being alive and every day is a treasure (got illness for the holidays)"
Happy (almost) new year! I'm sick (thanks to having 247 roommates), so I'm spending the time setting goals, working on stuff, and sending out postcards. What you up to?? Talk to meeee #nye #nye2025 #wip
Illustration of a person with wild, noodle-like limbs. Text on the image says: "I think of all the things and I just.. I don't know. I'd rather not."
Watercolour illustration of a person in recline. Text on the image says: "Sometimes it's OK to take up space... even if you're not doing anything."
Watercolour illustration of a teddy bear. Text on the image says, "this is me btw, when you're being mean to me, this is who you're being mean to."
Watercolour illustration of Pomni from indie animation The Amazing Digital Circus.
Hi~ I don't know many artists on here :c but I'd like to!
I like to use watercolours because they're flowy and intuitive. A lot of my stuff is original, but it's all inspired by memes, anime, and cartoons.
Heck yes it is, with the eyes i wanted to refer to Caine and his surveillance vibe c:
Watercolor illustration of Pomni, a character from the animation The Amazing Digital Circus. She has noodle-like limbs and is holding eyes, with eyes replacing many of the details of her outfit.
sad little clown
recently got into this and still don't know how to feel about it beyond: "I, too, see a small shell-shocked clown when looking into the mirror each day"

A cat, photographed from above, looking at the camera. A treat is held almost out of frame.
The cat approaches the treat, which is freeze dried fish on a stick.
The cat opens his mouth wide, with fangs about to piece the treat.
The cat opens his mouth and the whole treat disappears from the image. After this photo, he bit down with full force, pulled backward, and ran away with the stick in his mouth. He was eventually captured and the stick removed.
A big CRUNCH in four acts.

Went to a coptic bookmaking workshop. Mine's a little sloppy but it's got spirit
