I had a similar experience this morning when we were at a diner and my kid mentioned something about a TV and I said, "It's a breakfast place, they won't have a TV because there's nothing on in the morning." They've only ever really experienced streaming.

When I don’t feel like I’m doing a good job, but people keep telling me I’m doing a good job, why do I feel worse?

I think the part that makes me crazy is that maybe they would now that you've written it, because every single word in those books was stolen from someone else. These people use their lack of talent or a perspective to justify their theft

An illustration of three salmon holding a banner that says β€œsolidarity stand together”. The drawing is high contrast and very red, black, yellow and white.

It seems clear Alex Pretti, a healthcare worker, was murdered for engaging in the exact kind of community care we hope all care workers to embody: the kind that doesn’t stop at the threshold of the hospital, the clinic, but that aims to care for and support the community where and how they can

It may not seem like it, but right now is a great time to think about the different world we want.

New federal loan limits will worsen America’s nursing shortage and leave patients waiting longer for care The 2025 tax and spending law lowers the federal loan borrowing limits for nursing students, raising the up-front costs of nursing school.

New tax laws eliminate several federal grants and loan repayment programs for nurses. This will worsen America’s nursing shortage and leave patients waiting longer for care, according to scholars who oversee nursing programs at large universities. buff.ly/sEU0Z2J

The Hit Hollywood Didn’t Want - The American Prospect Ryan Coogler’s bloodsucker blockbuster is all about Black creative freedom. No wonder the industry saw it as a threat.

What a great piece! This just gets better and better as you read.

A photo of a poem titled "You Are Here" by Mira Jacob. The text of the poem follows:
"Leaving this here at you have it to come back to today. This country has always been brutal, and there has always been an us who have been fighting it. The beauty that comes out of that fight, the way our love for each other changes the world around us, is real and glorious and unrelenting. It cannot be caged, tamed, erased, or lost. You are part of that tradition. I know you are starting to know this, but you really know it now. Art is making something no one asked for - not because they didn't need it, but because they didn't know they needed it until you made it, until it helped them breathe and dream and find a way forward. It's part of a map that shows us how we get out of this place. Keep going. Do your part. Love you - Mom."
