We just launched powerful new capabilities in the Honeycomb Telemetry Pipeline, including graphical pipeline building functionality and "Enhance", which gives teams the ability to do the detective show-style "enhance the letters on that plate" for sampled data.

Data Strategy for SREs and Observability Teams Let's learn as much from our data friends as possible by outlining the principles and categories of an observability data strategy.

So here is what's hopefully just the first in a series of blog posts I'll be doing on the topic, and I look forward to hearing your feedback.

And there's so little cross-functional knowledge sharing between the SRE and Data worlds, it's like they live on two different planets! It turns out that the Data folks have a many-year head start, particularly when it comes to formalizing data practices that Observability systems desperately need

The Observability 2.0 paradigm shift was a shock to many, coming from the metrics & logs world, suddenly being exposed to a richness of data and analytical capabilities they'd never had before in their careers.

Back in 2020, I was leading and building out our nascent Customer Success team, and we were all drowning in a sea of data. There was no shortage of inputs, being SaaS, across all our tools as well as our own DBs, but it was being pulled together through spreadsheets.

Backstory: I've been living in both the Observability and BI Data worlds for the past five years. Observability data practices have a lot to learn from the Data world, as topics like Governance, Cost Management, and Data Quality dominate the needs and conversation.

a crumbling archway with the chapter title for a book

The further you get in Wind and Truth, the more crumbly the chapter heading archways get.

And this has me, as the kids say, shook.

Feeling quite pleased with myself for tricking our AI call summarization tool into writing a limerick about beans.

aws.amazon.com/ec2/faqs/#t4... - yes, T4g instances are free for the next year plus. You also get 30GB of EBS, and plenty of bandwidth out to the public internet for personal use (100GB). #AWS #ListenToTheHeroes
