I mean, no one wants to be Winter's Bone.

Framing someone's ex as a monster? Did Lynn Johnston write on this show? (cc: @emilystjams.bsky.social)
Yeah, cast was very solid when they swang through last month.
My subheads really are a window into my current headspace.

I suspect it's a standardized testing problem (like so many I encounter), but it's EXTREMELY hard to convince students to stop writing assignments that read like they're writing school assignments.
No human being actually wants to read you cannibalizing the prompt language for no reason.
Thereβs just something in the air tonight.
This Andy Garcia is also throwing me. Was there some kind of lottery?
Orlando Bloom is presenting this awardβ¦why? #ActorAwards
Supporting Actor is such a weird one this year. You'd have made Penn the frontrunner in the abstract, but then Del Toro was the sentimental favorite in OBAA, and then you presumed they'd split the vote, and it turns out...no, it was just Penn all along considering BAFTA and SAG?
Curious stuff.
Me watching the parade of Kristen Bell co-stars in her backstage #ActorAwards segments:
Netflix: bad for the theatrical experience, good for actual footage from media during award shows. #ActorAwards
A question for you, BlueSky: what is the COVID-era film that youβd be most curious to know its performance in a non-COVID box office?
Mitchells would have still been theatrical at Sony without COVID, so it counts.
As I noted here, TV-wise, the closest comp (and it isnt close) is perhaps Rege-Jean Page post-Bridgerton S1. (But all-time, it's 7YO Drew Barrymore.)

As we prep for Connor Storrie on #SNL, I'm trying to think of other instances of the show using its host slot to validate a new young star.
Best analogues I can find are typically tied to Oscars (Elliot Page, Gabourey Sidibe), which feel distinct.
One common answer Iβve seen is Prey, and for me that runs into another related hypothetical: if not for COVID, would Disney have still put Fox films like Prey on Hulu to avoid sharing streaming rights with HBO Max? Would they have seen that as a viable strategy?
Movie that inspired this prompt: The Matrix Resurrections, which I was watching for the first time.
My answer to this prompt: The Happiest Season.
A question for you, BlueSky: what is the COVID-era film that youβd be most curious to know its performance in a non-COVID box office?
It's gonna have to be pre-taped, whatever it is, because the people who camped out for tickets for this are outright going to boo that man.
Looking forward to seeing how #SNL negotiates this tonight.
My general rule here is that Editing nominations help us determine which Best Picture nominees are actually being seriously considered/ranked in the 10 nominee era.
Reviving a family sitcom has distinct advantages, since the "situation" itself is not an immovable object characters need to be pushed and pulled into.
The new #Scrubs is objectively a revival, but what my review of the two-episode premiere argues is that there's a necessary amount of rebooting required when the show you're reviving had no reason to return beyond generic affection.
@mcnutt.bsky.social will confirm that I DO have a steel trap for things like this, but let us acknowledge the benefit of having photodocumented all of it, in this case.
Gotta be Kipper. (This would be the year we stayed at Colin's on the way to Kingston, and then we did a geocache at the airport when we got back?)
The year is 2026. Four years after starting my own newsletter, I spend my Wednesday writing and publishing reviews of the TV shows I'm reviewing like #Survivor (below) and #Scrubs (www.episodicmedium.tv/review-scrub...).
The year is 2007. After starting a blog in January, I spend the Spring gravitating toward reviewing TV as it airs. In March, I write a "catchup post" covering shows I'm watching like #Survivor and #Scrubs.
*Puts on nerd glasses* Ahem, let the record show that Denise was in fact the only new intern from Season 8 that carried onto Season 9.
So many exclamation marks and you canβt even get the most !mportant one right? SMH.
