I am always tempted by books. It's one of my downfalls. Or a delightful characteristic. I'm not sure

These look fab πHowever, I must not buy any more books. No, I really mustn't.
They need a good home - who will be that person?
Not always. I once chased a click round a bike and it was the chain link that had worn. To be fair, there was actually a lot clicking and creaking on that particular bike.
May you have a random click that could be a pedal, might be your BB, possibly something to do with your chain, but is also intermittent so is doubly hard to track down.
What a good way to celebrate
If you've ever missed any of our talks, most of them are on our YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/@romanroadsr...
Many points of discussion included. Such as what are the state of Mike Haken's curtains? That's a timeless classic.
Ah, yes, same chap who chatted to us a few weeks ago. Very interesting indeed
Double digging is quite a bastard as far as I'm concerned
I think we had it covered (sort of ) with fantasy. Much fantasy
I'm intrigued. Is that body paint designed to look like armour? Or armour designed to look like abs of steel?
I think I was supposed to be vacuuming the stairs
Nosying at maps, as one does, before this evening's talk around Bicester. It's not an area I know at all, so I've been sucked into all sorts of connected wormholes of military railways, DMVs (do we still call them that?), roads of all ages, just all sorts of interesting stuff
RR160 runs (partly) between Bicester and Towcester. A finer example of 'names utterly confusing unless you've heard them pronounced by a local' I can't think of.
Next talk, the one that was postponed, is now tomorrow (Thu 26th Feb) evening. Tix: www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/conquest-a...
Apparently it was 'unforeseen circumstances' that caused its postponement rather than any of the splendidly creative reasons you came up with. Shame but looks like a good talk
I'm sure I've heard that line somewhere before
Good answer. Pretty much covers it. 'Let's have it this wide.' 'Naw, needs to be narrower than that mate.' 'What are we building it of? 'Where do you want these forts/towers putting?'
Which are all reasons it's such as fascinating thing.
Yeah, but Sardinian warbler. That's pretty good
That is exciting news indeed
PS Don't forget Saint Valentine (possibly two of the many) was buried next to the Via Flaminia. See, romance and Roman roads all together.
It's sunshiny and mild. Get outside. Stop looking at the your phones/laptops/other electronic devices talking to people online you've never met but have the same niche interests as you. Go and find some snowdrops.
Note to self.
Love a bit of Mercia
For anyone who's interested @waterstones.bsky.social is running a special pre-order offer (no pun intended) on my new book about King Offa of Mercia, valid from Friday 20 Feb. eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com?url=https%3A...
True though. Thursdays can be weird
So treacherous round Lincoln. Can never predict what's going to go wrong next
Yes
It's likely I think. Common enough occurrence historically
Yesterday I mentioned our next talk was Feb 19th. That's currently postponed. More when I have more info.
Meanwhile feel free to speculate why as that is apparently what the internet is for. Free reposts for the most imaginative suggestion based on no facts whatsoever.
Barnsley often crosses lines. Its well known for it.
That doll would be more convincing with a Barnsley accent
We've got another talk coming up. Conquest and Change in the Hinterland of Roman Alchester: impact, development and legacy from Becky Haslam of the AOC Archaeology group
Thursday 19 Feb at 7.30 online.
Tix: www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/conquest-a...
What a useful document.
(Hang on, is that the right phrase, just let me check)
