Good question. Of course the Olympics are international - but the lingo is still in English in many sports.

While we're on the topic, why do figure skaters just count rotations? Skiers, snowboarders, and skateboarders prefer degrees. And why doesn't anyone measure their rotations in radians!?!

I'm generally impressed with NYTimes readers - great comments, impressive stats in games, etc. But this question really just asks you to divide 1980 by 360 – and only 36% got it right. What do you think. Most people didn't know how to interpret 1980? Couldn't/didn't do the division right?
