Charlie Kirk was a white supremacist who pushed the racist Great Replacement Theory. Kirk was vociferously anti-LGBTQ. Kirk's final words were to besmirch Black people.

The MSNBC commentator saying that most political violence has historically come from the left just once again showed how we suffer from failing to learn history. Lynching, pogroms, race riots, the political violence that ended Reconstruction, and against the Civil Rights Movement. Come on.

In an article on Mahmoud Khalil's release, the NYTimes notes he was detained on the grounds of "a rarely cited law from the mid-20th century." They don't tell you that this law was originally used primarily to deport Eastern European Jews, including Holocaust survivors, as suspected Communists.
honestly does seem like the basic dynamic in american politics right now is that a critical number of voters treat Democrats like their (nagging) mom or their (bitch) wife and treat Republicans like the “cool” dad or husband who is at best a deadbeat

Concern for “free speech” by the right was always a facade for a reactionary culture war, antagonistic to the civil liberties that create it. It’s a victimhood complex of absolutists who get butthurt the second someone challenges their ideas. Their glee in criminalizing dissent is no surprise to me.
