Toitū te Tiriti. Honouring the Treaty is another.
In my example, a real example, the two collide.
185 years ago, Te Āti Awa rangatira signed Te Tiriti here in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, expecting their rangatiratanga would be upheld. This includes a voice in local government. Since then, only ONE iwi member has ever sat on Council. That’s not partnership. #under-representation. #KEEPMāoriWards
This weekend is a really good time to vote to KEEP Maori wards.

It was a pleasure to do my 7th and final candidates meeting in Brooklyn last night. A fun evening with an engaged audience.
There are only two wards that didn’t have any meetings that include/invite Māori ward candidates. They were Takapū Northern and Motukairangi Eastern.
