…. and that makes a rather nice low-cost stand-alone unit. Stick it in the loft if GPS reception is better there. If you’re really interested get a dual channel GPS (1.2 and 1.5 GHz) and compare! No longer low-cost, though.

Good to see that post. I’ve found that my Raspberry Pi 1B (yes, that old) gives excellent performance using regular NTP, with many nodes as clients (several hundred). May reduce the cost. You can monitor anywhere on the network using standard NTP commands (Windows or Linux), no need for a display.

One trick (?) to getting something working is to give it a clean. This the user will notice! 198 kHz is one the way out sometime, I recall that β€˜lectric cost and lack of supply of spare valves didn’t help. Useful frequency standard before GPS-locked devices.
