Not great pics, but I thought the fabulous colors and patterns of this red corn snake warranted posting. Found in the leaf litter around my house and exactly why I don't rake leaves. #addHerper #reptile #snake #nature #wildlife #EastCoastKin🐍

During my frequent dog walks, I notice things. This past few days it was violets in neighbors lawns. I took a brief look and both of these appear to be native to Florida #violets #nature #nativeplants #bloomscrolling #spring #Florida #EastCoastKin 🌼

I have used peppermint soaked cotton balls and they seem to work for a while. Also considering hot pepper, as they seem to avoid that too.

I wish i could do something similar, but the squirrels here would just tear all of that up. They are way over-populated because neighbors think they’re cute. Instead, i started plants in my garage under grow lights and then transplant outdoors surrounded by chicken wire until they are edtablished

They’re all great-looking. Unfortunately, i haven’t become very proficient at identification of the ones here, at least not real-time.

The evergreen native shrub Walter's viburnum is in bloom in my yard today. It is the first to bloom of the five native viburnum species I have growing. Easy to care for and can be trimmed as a hedge if desired. #nativeplant #nature #Eastcoastkin #bloomscrolling #spring #Florida

Always curious about how many species were introduced. Evidently, some people feel like it’s their mission to add species, while sometimes they’re just introduced accidentally.

How little I know about Hawaii. I would have expected only endemic butterflies, if any. Are there a lot of different species?

That is a great collection! I’ve found a few along with some Indian head pennies, but nothing in abundance like you have. Have you determined which group of native Americans lived in the area that produced those?
