The head of a red cornsnake (Pantherophis guttatus) with an intricate yellow-brown-orange pattern is shown against a background of leaves and plant debtris
Not great pics, but I thought the fabulous colors and patterns of this red corn snake warranted posting. Found in the leaf litter around my house and exactly why I don't rake leaves. #addHerper #reptile #snake #nature #wildlife #EastCoastKinπ
A great photo!
Wow
At the top-center is a bumblebee and at the right is an oleander moth that has a metallic blue abdomen with an orange tip. There are white dots on the abdomen, thorax, and black wings. The pink flower is an aster
For #twofortuesday a bumblebee sharing asters with an oleander moth- AKA as polka-dot wasp moth π πΌ #moth #bugsky #insects #nature #bumblebee #EastCoastKin #wildlife #pollinators
Unexpected too!
Would enjoy seeing one if you ever get a chance to post a pic
How very peaceful. Thanks for sharing!

A lavender violet with purple striations in the center is shown against a green plant leaf background
During my frequent dog walks, I notice things. This past few days it was violets in neighbors lawns. I took a brief look and both of these appear to be native to Florida #violets #nature #nativeplants #bloomscrolling #spring #Florida #EastCoastKin πΌ
I have used peppermint soaked cotton balls and they seem to work for a while. Also considering hot pepper, as they seem to avoid that too.
I hope things improve for you!
I wish i could do something similar, but the squirrels here would just tear all of that up. They are way over-populated because neighbors think theyβre cute. Instead, i started plants in my garage under grow lights and then transplant outdoors surrounded by chicken wire until they are edtablished
A n mostly black swallowtail (Papilio polyxenes) butterfly with yellow markings on the wings and orange false eyespots on the hindwings at the posterior-center. Resting on a native winged sumac plant (Rhus copallinum)
A photo from years ago I just found as an email attachment. Black swallowtail resting on a winged sumac. π¦ #butterflies #bugsky #swallowtails #nature #wildlife #EastCoastKin #Florida
Itβs from a 2019 Blues Cruise. Alas, itβs not available on dvd, but it seems there is a cd
Wow! What a great job on this classic. Thanks for sharing!
Have another
Thatβs different!. Thanks for sharing!
Theyβre all great-looking. Unfortunately, i havenβt become very proficient at identification of the ones here, at least not real-time.
A white viburnum (Viburnum obovatum) blossom is shown against a leafy green background
The evergreen native shrub Walter's viburnum is in bloom in my yard today. It is the first to bloom of the five native viburnum species I have growing. Easy to care for and can be trimmed as a hedge if desired. #nativeplant #nature #Eastcoastkin #bloomscrolling #spring #Florida
A giant silkworm moth, various patterns of brown, casting its shadow against a pavement background. The large antennae indicate it is a male. Males use their antennae to detect pheromones emitted by the females. Antheraea polyphemus

A photo over the water of Old Tampa Bay toward the setting sun, which is obscured by clouds
A cell phone shot of Old Tampa Bay through the window of a car traveling 70 mph. Florida has some great clouds and #sunsets #clouds #waterscape #EastCoastKin #Florida
Always curious about how many species were introduced. Evidently, some people feel like itβs their mission to add species, while sometimes theyβre just introduced accidentally.
How little I know about Hawaii. I would have expected only endemic butterflies, if any. Are there a lot of different species?
Nice!
That is a great collection! Iβve found a few along with some Indian head pennies, but nothing in abundance like you have. Have you determined which group of native Americans lived in the area that produced those?
Your Corgis are especially photogenic!
The silhouette of trees are shown against the background of an orange tinted sunrise sky.

A large black and yellow bumblebee is shown on a white bell shaped blueberry blossom
From this afternoon: bumble bees are giving my native blueberries a lot of attention. #bugsky #spring #bumblebees #nature #EastCoastKin π
I didnβt get an up-close view, but Iβve seen them for decades here.
