Truly frustrating to sit on a leadership committee & hear that the team wants to use a program that times children with math facts. It was all I could do not to flip a table. Has anybody not listened to a thing I’ve said for 8 years? It’s true- “you can’t be a prophet in your own land.”

Yup—but you know the saying—you can’t be a prophet in your own land.

What surprised me was that the district personnel had no knowledge/direction of how to choose either.

Not knowing what to look for in a curriculum. Basing decisions on a fancy presentation or flipping through the book

I was on an elem. math committee & listened to countless presentations from companies. Ts wanted to pick one based on presentations. It made me aware that Ts may not know what to look for in choosing. (I suggested looking at a standard & comparing how it is taught in each curriculum)
