Intolerable Things We'll all be Minneapolis soon.

"Minneapolis, Minnesota reminds me of a politically torn, unstable country in a transitional period before full-blown war with a repressive government. Maidan-era Ukraine, for example."

Don’t. Print. Lies. In. The. Newspapers.

Don’t. Host. Lying. Liars. On. The. Teevee. Shows.

If you’ve messed up & done that anyway, end the interview immediately when they start to lie performatively in public.

The old model is broken. It doesn’t work for lying authoritarians. Stop trying.

Yeah, people are fixating on a Cabinet Secretary being given a sovereign country to run because the president waged war without congressional approval and kidnapped the old leader. Weird that they’d get hung up on that.

β€˜60 Minutes’ Pulled a Segment. A Correspondent Calls It β€˜Political.’

β€œOur story was screened five times and cleared by both CBS attorneys and Standards and Practices..."β€œIt is factually correct. In my view, pulling it now, after every rigorous internal check has been met, is not an editorial decision, it is a political one.”

The story is insane. The acting head of cyber security, a Noem crony, repeatedly demanded to see highly classified information he didn’t need access to, and when staff set up a lie detector test as a condition to grant him access, he failed it. So DHS suspended the staffers.

In her note, Ms. Alfonsi said that her team had requested comment from the White House, the state Department, and the Department of Homeland Security. "If the administration's refusal to participate becomes a valid reason to spike a story, we have effectively handed them a 'kill switch' for any reporting they find inconvenient," Ms. Alfonsi wrote.

Sharyn Alfonsi is an award-winning journalist who has worked for 60 Minutes for 20 years. Before that she reported for ABC, CBS & local news outlets. If Alfonsi says her story was spiked by Bari Weiss political reasons, that’s exactly what happened. www.nytimes.com/2025/12/21/b...

Ms. Weiss said in a statement late Sunday: β€œMy job is to make sure that all stories we publish are the best they can be. Holding stories that aren’t ready for whatever reason β€” that they lack sufficient context, say, or that they are missing critical voices β€” happens every day in every newsroom. I look forward to airing this important piece when it’s ready.”

Almost every story Weiss greenlit at the Free Press lacked sufficient context. It's kinda their entire schtick.

Because Bari Weiss is an opportunistic political maneuverer, it probably doesn't get said clearly enough that she is also an astounding clod, in wildly over her head. The fact that she seems to have spiked this story without realizing this would happen tells you all you need to know about her.
