This is Boulder Opal stone from Australia.
.
A type of gemstone that combines a host rock, usually ironstone or sandstone, and a precious opal. As the rock is forming, a silica compound containing water penetrates the rock, and deposits opal in the cracks.

So between denying trans kids access to affirmative healthcare and the guidance effectively banning social transition in schools, one could be forgiven for concluding that the government's strategy is to to maximise the suicides of trans kids, to minimise the numbers who survive to be trans adults.

Why are so many tech-minded humans so incredibly stupid?

Is it a choice to be this ignorant of sweeping, interconnected consequences on every other living thing beyond, “We could make the sun shine at night. How cool!”

Why???

What do you do when you hear a Robin singing it's head off but there's a twig ruining the picture? Take the photo of course! Irresistible ☺️ 🪶

My mentions have folks calling Talarico a "fascist" and assuring me that black Texans would never ever vote for anyone who uses Christian language.

For the good of democracy, I'm begging some of you to take a long break from social media. It's not helping you and you're definitely not helping us.

Yes everything is terrible but let’s not lose sight of the fact that someone has written the Headline to End All Headlines.

Cosign. If you actually read the Bible, it has nothing whatsoever to say about abortion, but a LOT to say about seeking justice and caring for widows and orphans.

Me too, naturally. I also really enjoyed “Window Boy” and its accumulating strangenesses. So that’s 2 for 2 so far.

Purity culture *is* pedophilia and rape culture. It inherently sexualizes children, keeps them ignorant and controlled, and victim-blames them when they are abused. There's nothing redemptive or protective about it.

I bought a used copy of Mr. wizard’s science secrets, and it turned out to be autographed. I used it for an afterschool science club for fourth graders, one chapter a week. And figured out how to relay a snack to each of the topics.🍿💦🧊🧪

my grandparents thought the start of WWII meant the 2nd Coming was nigh; my mom and her sisters were confident it’d happen when JFK (a CATHOLIC who totes followed the ANTICHRIST) got elected; I was told it’d drop in the year 2000 (since Jesus’s birthdate was miscalculated by a few years); yada yada

Mainstream America: We are obsessed with Heated Rivalry and Drag Race. We love them and can't get enough.
American Democrat politicians: LGBT people are not culturally normal. We will not speak of them.

@thomasha.bsky.social : tonight I read “Cretins”. This week I consult with my physical therapy case manager about conditions that may cover some of my trickier symptoms. At long last, sir, have you no sense of decency? :) Also, loving Uncertain Sons so fsr. Excellent work.

Dawn mosaic of the asteroid 4 Vesta, taken from an altitude of ~2800 km on October 19, 2012. This image is a mosaic of three black and white images taken of the asteroid as the spacecraft prepared to descend from it's initial survey orbit into the first high-altitude mapping orbit.

The North Pole is located at bottom center, and a distinctive cluster of three craters (nicknamed 'The Snowman') is found at bottom right. The grooves running across the surface are faults created by the Veneneia impact. This collision nearly broke Vesta apart, and left the asteroid with a distinctive out-of-round shape.

there's so much bad in the world but there's also people who lift up and carry an elderly bat around every day so he can pretend he's flying again, and that's the part of the world I think is worth fighting for

"Why do you want to have a 1970s music pavilion at the Shakespeare festival?"

"It features wine made by the chairman of the Chinese Communist Party!"

"But how does that make it anything to do with Shakespeare?"

"Mao is the vintner of our disco tent!"
