The reason people aren't having more children is because it would be beyond human ability to keep track of all the apps, patient portals, emails, and texts apparently required

Many people are saying! "At a moment when tens of millions of Americans are deeply unhappy with the Court and its behavior, it is hard to envision a clear path to reform. But, as a brief glance at our history demonstrates, that path has already been trodden many times."
π₯"The inertia on Court reform [reflects] a problem with our countryβs political-cultural mythology surrounding the Court in generalβand Chief Justice Roberts in particularβas some sort of neutral and detached arbiter of the truth that operates wholly outside the domain of partisan politics."π₯
We canβt clean up Washington without restoring integrity to the Supreme Court.
Thatβs why I believe we should expand the Supreme Court to 13 justices. And then, institute term limits.
Because an appointment to the Supreme Court shouldnβt mean a lifetime lack of accountability.
I think, as with many things about parenting, for lots of kids it works to "expect" them to try foods, but for other kids it totally doesn't, and then you are faced with deciding whether to force them. Maybe in the past forcing was more common, but I doubt it resulted in adventurous eating.
Thatβs a lot of countries
I'm dubious about any assertion that "kids never used to be X" (picky, autistic, trans, etc.) Seems much more likely kids were those things but were very pressured to hide it. IME with one picky eater and one who eats everything, "expecting" them to eat adult foods is not a magic wand.

NEW BY ME: I spoke with Lio Cundiff, the 31-year-old transgender comedian in Chicago who saved a baby.
Heβs a cool dude whoβs down to earth and embarrassed by the attention.
I hope you, Tig Notaro, and River Butcher read this.

NEW: The Trump administration's federal layoffs left our region teetering on the edge of a recession, altering the trajectories of thousands of our neighborsβ lives.
The 51st spoke to seven former federal workers about what they've been up to in the year since β and where they hope to go next.
"...she and her three kids watched through a window as guards swept through their room in late January, removing drawings from the walls and placing colored pencils and crayons in plastic bags before taking them away."
This really feels like an Orban/Erdogan situation in which the aspiring dictator is making sure his friendly oligarchs control as much media as possible

Trump successfully used the government to get control of CNN and HBO, in violation of the First Amendment. Trumpists will do to news there what they already did at the Washington Post and CBS. apple.news/AFF4QBC69RCu...
Niiiiiice! Even though Do What The Polls Say is a v bad idea, this should tell even candidates following that strategy to support reforming the courts, including adding seats to SCOTUS
Most Americans want Supreme Court expansion from 9 to 13
Popularism demands elected Dems support this!
the party that wants to require ID to vote abruptly invalidating a thousand peopleβs IDs overnight seems like a pretty giant flashing red light
An official letter from the Kansas Division of Vehicles dated February 23, 2026, with a redacted recipient address. The letter notifies the recipient that due to the enactment of Senate Bill 244, all Kansas driver's licenses and IDs must reflect the holder's sex at birth. It states that the recipient's current credential will become invalid immediately upon the law's publication on February 26, 2026, with no grace period. The recipient is directed to surrender their current ID to receive a new one matching their sex assigned at birth. The document concludes with instructions on how to appeal the notice if received in error, along with contact information for the department.
Kansas is sending letters to trans people telling them that their licenses will be revoked as of tomorrow and that they risk arrest for driving on a suspended license.
This is pure cruelty.

The Justice Department has withheld some Epstein files related to allegations that President Trump sexually abused a minor, an NPR investigation finds. It also removed some documents from the public database where accusations against Jeffrey Epstein also mention Trump.

I have spent the past several months studying the cutting-edge research on modern democracies that have defeated authoritarian leaders.
I've learned that the conventional wisdom on the topic is wrong βΒ in ways that have clear implications for the US going forward

I watched ICE cut classes that teach our legal system, firearms training, use of force, lawful arrests, and the limits of officers' authority

When/IF Democrats get back in power in 2029 - they should absolutely #ExpandtheCourt.
Trump threatens us with a good time: "They'd like to pack the court. They want to put on 21 people. Pack the Supreme Court. Maybe they should do it. Maybe we would be better off if they did it."
In a country not unstrung by John Roberts and his sick rogue scotus even members of an actual royal family remain beholden to the law

Me, a U.S. citizen watching another countryβs judiciary weigh capital punishment for a president who tried to overthrow the state:
So SCOTUS, with its fabricated-out-of-thin-air immunity doctrine, has actually made American presidents less accountable than LITERAL royalty.
Report: Staff at Dilley raiding cells to confiscate kids' letters and drawings detailing conditions inside
ProPublica published children's letters and drawings documenting their sadness and suffering at Dilley. And Dilley staff are now retaliating by confiscating kids' letters and drawings.

The horror stories rolling in from Minnesota are just the tip of the iceberg. This 20-year-old, who's lawfully present in the country, was arrested for being Latino, then jailed in a filthy cell where he couldn't even sit down. 18 days of illegal detention. democracyforward.org/wp-content/u...
