The 4th year of the “State of Exception,” has led to more than 400 deaths among the 90k+ incarcerated in a massive arrest sweep by police+military, which includes the indefinite detention of political dissidents. El Salvador now has the highest incarceration rate in the world, even more than the US.

Sebastián Torogós will talk about the incredible challenges facing the people of El Salvador and the connection to their collective memory of the war years of the 1970s and ‘80s. The country is experiencing its most severe threats to democracy since the civil war ended in 1992.

We will mark the 45th anniversary of the sacrifice of four US women in El Salvador. Jean Donovan and Ursuline Sister Dorothy Kazel (from Cleveland) brutally killed alongside Maryknoll Sisters Ita Ford and Maura Clarke by US-trained and funded military in El Salvador.

Within a few months after that horrific tragedy, people of faith and conscience in Cleveland founded IRTF as a way to carry forward their legacy—taking action in solidarity with oppressed and marginalized communities as they struggle for peace, dignity, and justice.

Most American Catholics, Bishops, and Cardinals *ARE* right wing. They’ve voted for Trump in 2 of the past three election cycles (if not all 3). I don’t remember the final breakout for 2020.

Flynn is Catholic. The Supreme Court is 6/9 Catholic. Right-wing Catholics are prominent in Trump's administration.

But obviously most American Catholics are not right-wing.

They went after an Episcopal bishop two weeks ago, then they went after Catholic Bishops last week, and now the they are going after Lutherans.

There is only one kind of “Christian” that Trump and MAGA accept.

Lutheran here and I say they can go to the bad place and stay there. Yes we help immigrants and yes we help people suffering disasters yes we help the poor.
