The world is small. When you give your word and commit to show up for people, be there. I recently took a new role and a big work meeting came up that conflicted with an external commitment I made months ago. There will always be another work meeting but you only have one reputation.
Today’s fun HR take. I love HR rules that forbid employees from changing jobs internally for a year or some random time frame but the company has no problem randomly moving an employee around from project to project at any time or manager to manager. Shakes head.
