Lucrezia lives in Zacapoaxtla, a region often called the โSwitzerland of Pueblaโ because of its steep slopes and cool, mountainous terrain. While beautiful, this landscape presents real challenges for farmers.
Thatโs where Purpose Groups come in.

Through research, interviews, & pastoral feedback, one truth became clear: churches are deeply committed to discipleship & outreach, but they are stretched thin & wary of anything that adds complexity.
That clarified our goal: Tend exists to help congregations thrive.

Loving your neighbor means being mindful of the many impacts of one decision.

When Atoโs Purpose Group in Ethiopiaโs Ziragn watershed started working, its members didnโt anticipate just how far the small group would go. For Ato, a committed member of the group, those first seeds signaled the beginning of real, lasting change.

Faith isnโt only about โchurchyโ behaviors... Faith is stewardship that reflects love, integrity, humility, and responsibility.
โLet us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.โ

At the heart of this mission lies a remarkable outcome: participantsโ incomes rise by an average of 325%. This increase represents families who are reclaiming their God-given potential.
But how is this possible?

Darika's story is one that speaks so deeply to the local leadership piece of our work. After seeing the impact of her mother's leadership and mentorship in her community, she was inspired to carry it on herself.

In part one of this blog series about the Plant With Purpose Journey toward U.S. Church Engagement, we discovered that strengthening the church has always been part of our mission. This led us to create Tend.

"What makes this approach effective is its focus on interconnectedness. PWP recognizes that restoring one area of the watershed has ripple effects, benefiting the entire ecosystem downstream." Arbor Day Foundation includes insights from Doug Satre & Milmer Martinez Vergara:

If you could describe what you hope this year holds for you in a word, it would be... ๐
Around the world, Plant With Purpose participants like Timothy are proving that the cycle of poverty and environmental degradation can be reversed. What once felt like scarcity can become sufficiency and even surplus.
โBefore PWP came, I used to think that work was a result of sin. But I remember attending one of the trainings, where I was taught that work was entrusted to man. Now, I spend most of my time in the field, and enjoy working, because I am convinced that God is pleased with that.โ
Plant With Purpose began working in the Lwafwa area and partnered with Timothyโs local church. As an active member of the congregation, Timothy immediately became involved.
For Timothy, a father of six living in the Lwafwa watershed of Malawi, life has often felt like an uphill climb. Like many in his community, he carried the burden of responsibility for his family with limited resources and uncertain opportunities.
Let's hear it for Timothy in Malawi, a smallholder farmer who has harvested an incredible amount of cassava.
Y'all are discussing the wrong Timothy today...
"Between 2026-2028, Plant with Purpose will help about 469,131 people access their savings groups and agricultural training in Burundi, DRC, Ethiopia, and Tanzania." Thank you, @AllAccess, for your incredible video and for believing in this work!
