St. Paul City Council approves new rules for drive-throughs
The new rules strive to balance business interests and public demand for quick access to food, pharmacies and banking with calls for a safer and more pedestrian-friendly urban environment.
Updated Drive Thru regulations have passedππ
While it's not a full ban, we're pleased it includes our amendment to protect investments in transit-oriented-development by significantly increasing the mandated distance from transit stops.π

Drive thrus generate roughly half the per-acre tax value of comparable non-drive-through commercial uses. Near transit, they undermine the immense fiscal potential of transit-oriented development. These concerns compound with safety concerns for pedestrians and drivers alike.πΆββοΈπ

Plotting a greener future for the Les Bolstad Golf Course property
In Falcon Heights zoning discussion, attention turns to housing density and sustainability on the valuable 141-acre Bolstad golf course.
Wrote about the 141-acre UMN golf course in Falcon Heights, on the border with St. Paul and Launderrdale. It's a huge opportunity to build sustainable housing and a net zero community, and luckily there are folks working on just that. www.minnpost.com/cityscape/20...
