It’s comforting to know that when my five year old runs out of teeth to sell to the tooth fairy he’ll still have the can money revenue stream.
US volcanoes pose a very real threat to communities and aircraft. Cutting funds will significantly compromise our ability monitor them and mitigate disaster. Why this administration wants us flying blind in volcano territory is an utter mystery. This is not a FAFO situation.
Mostly preaching to the choir here, but a group of us moderators over on Reddit's AskScience put together kind of an explainer for the implications of some of the attacks on science funding and infrastructure in the US if it's useful for anyone else to share:

Thanks! All PNAS articles are open access after six months. It would’ve cost us >$6000 to get open access immediately. For a largely unfunded project that’s unfeasible.
