Apparently this took it further. A few locations are now entirely optional to progression. I didn't even know about them until after I finished the game. I'll go get at then later I suppose! Never been much for end game dungeons (even in the newest Yakuza RPG games) so I may still skip those.

I've never played the first two versions so I can't judge by that. But it seems like everything they changed was for the better, especially an update to the final battle.

I can't think of a single video game movie rhat was good but adhered closely to the original game(s). Even the first Silent Hill film shared locations and characters, but they're rather different from the game (honestly for the better imo).
