I got a Linux box as a home server and I now prefer it to my higher spec windows laptop. At this point Iβm only retaining windows for testing my games and playing the occasional non-Linux game, but most games work on Linux and I use Godot so even the testing angle is feeling pretty thin.

Youβre allowed to be excited about cool art that you made!
New game announcement soon! Itβs very exciting!

Butβ¦why?
What a beautiful flesh tunnel!
Always have a tagline!
Yes it helps for marketing, but it also focuses the game very succinctly!
DitherDream is a βtrippy little exploration game,β and anything that didnt fit that got cut. Thats the only way I was able to break through my own scope creep tendencies and release it.
Iβm starting to think that I should really pull that Holographic Night game out of my backlog at some point. Might be something to learn from there. People seem to like it.
Oh interesting, I hadnβt heard of those, thanks!
We need to think systemically and recognize that until we have some kind of systemic alternative to these institutions weβre not going to win against them.
And we need to win.
Cryptocurrencies claim to provide this, and I think that one day they will, even if they fall short right now.
Valve just updated their Steam rules to ban content that βmay violate rules set by payment processors or banks.β Sounds boring. Itβs not. Itβs the quiet normalization of financial censorship and itβs going to hurt LGBTQ+ games and devs
Visa and Mastercard have killed more art than every studio combined and most people don't even know about it
I saw a talk at GodotCon about someone who made and published a game entirely on their phone for the challenge/fun of it!
It was a small game, but still, it can definitely be done!
In case people still aren't aware:
There is sanctioned boycott on Microsoft and Xbox from the BDS movement going on *right now*.
If you haven't already done so, you can start now.
You don't gotta say anything, no justifications, nothing. This is something you can start doing now.
That looks lovely!
Iβll have to try it out myself, thanks for sharing the code too!
Yeah I always feel a bit dodgy rooting for one megacorp against another, but anything that helps to break up the steam monopoly and their 30% cut is probably good news for devs.
Not unless I just need the money to survive, and then itβs a temporary gig until I can find a better way to get by.
I work to live, and creativity is pretty core to my existence.
Hey Iβm one of those!
I made DitherDream and a bunch of other little things, and Iβve got a nee project in progress now. I imagine occasional help from friends isnβt disqualifying?
I've been having trouble settling on exactly what I want my next project to be, so I'm just gonna start posting prototypes here! That'll be more fun than silence anyway. 8)
Sunrise in the Way of Ones :)
A strange little island with beautiful clouds above.
I added clouds today!
They exist entirely within the sky shader, which feels right for DitherDream, and I think they look quite nice already! They really help anchor the scene in just a little bit of reality that I think was missing before.
They'll be in the next update in a few weeks!
