Watching NBA basketball this year, I think there are roughly 3 flavors of motivation:
1. Legacy — "I want people to love me"
2. Money — "This is my job"
3. Craft — "Winning means I get to keep playing"
I resonate with the 3s, they seem to have the most fun. But 1s and 2s win just as often.
Instead of my usual mode of rushing to implement ASAP, I've been giving new ideas and projects more time and space to breathe lately.
In the past, I think I've been scared of getting stuck in inaction. Lately, it's been useful to lean into it for a bit.
Ease breeds joyful dedication.
I'm going to post little (carefully curated) reflections from my journal here as a way to show up consistently. And as a reminder to show up daily-ish!
