There are $21 billion reasons to love the CFPB. Thatβs the amount of relief it has delivered to people cheated by predatory lenders. Congress β it is time to show working people some love and restore CFPB funding. http://bit.ly/lovecfpb #CFPBMyValentine

The CFPB still stands a year after the Trump admin tried to delete it, thanks to its staff and advocates. But, its ability to protect workers is hanging by a thread. Demand Congress show consumer protection some love this Valentineβs Day. bit.ly/lovecfpb #CFPBMyValentine
"Trumpβs attempt to sideline the CFPB has cost families billions of dollars over the last year alone."
Love looks like protecting veterans and hardworking families from predatory scams. Love looks like stopping discriminatory lending. This Valentineβs Day, letβs demand lawmakers stand with everyday people. Demand Congress restore CFPB funding bit.ly/lovecfpb #CFPBMyValentine

There are $21 billion reasons to love the CFPB. Thatβs the amount of relief it has delivered to people cheated by big banks, predatory lenders and scammy debt collectors. Congress β it is time to show working people some love and restore CFPB funding. bit.ly/lovecfpb #CFPBMyValentine
Call your member of congress and tell them working people should be their valentine, NOT wall street! Fully Fund the CFPB!
One year ago, the Trump Administration and DOGE attempted to dismantle the CFPB in the quiet of the night, firing mass amounts of dedicated consumer protection experts and halting critical work that protects everyday people. #CFPBmyValentine
Despite the skyrocketing cost of our energy bills, groceries, and housing, the federal agency that protects people's money has been gagged from within. The Acting Director, Russell Vought, has given money back to big banks and law breakers, stopped supervising for harm, & stopped protecting consumer
The messages all pointed to the same conclusion: the CFPB has shut down work from within, and CFPB workers are demanding their boss, Russ Vought, allow them to get back to work protecting consumers.

Congress asked the Gov't Accountability Office to review the effect of recent stop-work orders, workforce reductions, contract terminations, and other related actions on CFPBβs ability to fulfill its statutorily mandated functions. GAO released their report on the reorg efforts as of August 2025
The CFPB is still here and Acting Director Vought is still not allowing its employees to protect consumers.
Wonder what data brokering powers price gouging, dynamic pricing, and seller's inflation? Without the CFPB modernizing the implementation of FCRA, we may never know!
As always, if consumers want to tell the story of how they were helped, make sure you're reaching out to legitimate journalists. @propublica.org (bsky.app/profile/prop...) has been doing great work covering this admin's attempts to throw the CFPB into the woodchipper
The CFPB Union @nteu335.bsky.social has been working hard to get the agency's funding restored, and to get Congress to rein in Vought's unlawful attempt to shut the agency down.

*everyone* knows how impactful the CFPB is, Representative @jayapal.house.gov is giving a high level view of the harm that's come to consumers with Vought at the helm of the CFPB (appointed, of course, as Acting Director by Trump)
Eric Michael Garcia tweets "The amount of scams targeted at old people is honestly scary." And user Stephen C. Rea responds, "Can't imagine that gutting the CFPB will help with that."
