"It's performative cruelty."
@rachelmillward.bsky.social speaks to Sky about Labour's lurch to the right on asylum policy - and why the Green Party is focused on real solutions to the cost of living instead.

When the Prime Minister spreads lies about people - there are consequences.
He's made some outrageous smears. It's debasing our politics.
Anything to try to quieten dissent about the US and Israel starting an illegal war.

The Home Secretaryβs own MPs see through this. She is desperate and dangerous.
People are joining the alternative:

Gorton and Denton showed that people are desperate for a different kind of politics.
But Labour have doubled down: with smears, misrepresentation, and BNP-inspired migration policy.
How low will Labour go? π

Rachel Millward Green Party Co-Deputy Leader "Labour clearly have not learnt the lessons of Gorton and Denton. Voters showed Labour that they are not persuaded by their attempts to copy Reform's rhetoric or to blame migrants for the real challenges facing our country." Green Party Promoted by Chris Williams on behalf of The Green Party, both at PO Box 78066, London SE16 9GQ
"Voters are looking for honesty, practical solutions and hope that things can get better."
As @rachelmillward.bsky.social explains, Labour have learnt nothing from Gorton and Denton
People want solutions - not scapegoats.

The problem wasn't really the negative campaign.
The problem is that it was a smear campaign based on lies.
And still Labour aren't offering any solutions to the highest drug deaths in Europe.
Let's have *that* conversation.

My much requested deep-dive into the latest immigration statistics begins!!
Part 1: What is the gender & age breakdown of asylum seekers?
Thank you email for joining the Green Party
Just joined UKβs Green Party for a few reasons. Starmer himself suggested ppl like me leave the Labour Party when he assumed leadership. Request granted. But the Greensβ recent success & polling (and more importantly their policy goals!) show them to be robust & viable.

Keir Starmer when you were running for Labour leader you promised to introduce this legislation to stop the UK being dragged into illegal wars - it's time to show you were serious about that.
It's just 1 poll (for now) - but here's how it plays out in the Nowcast Model:
RFM: 227 (+222)
GRN: 135 (+131)
LDM: 92 (+20)
CON: 59 (-62)
SNP: 48 (+39)
LAB: 40 (-371)
PLC: 20 (+16)
Others: 10 (+5)
A vote for Labour is a vote for Farage. Labour voters need to stop with their endless purity tests and fall in line with the Greens to stop fascism, or they'll forever be remembered as fascist enablers
The choice is stark. Reform are the party of foreign wars and high bills.
The Greens want de-escalation and energy security through renewables. Solar and wind prices don't fluctuate when rogue US presidents launch illegal bombing campaigns.
Darren Jones and the entire cabinet are out of their depths. They're simply unaccustomed to and unsuited for dealing with a left wing insurgency they cannot squash by bureaucratic means. They're only going to make matters worse for themselves.
And the Greens are the most popular party with the *under 50s*!!
Westminster Voting Intention, sourced from YouGov between one March and three March, features a bar chart highlighting that the Green Party has reached second place for the first time in YouGov polling. Reform UK leads at twenty-three percent, a decrease of one percentage point since twenty-two to twenty-three February. The Green Party follows in second at twenty-one percent, an increase of four percentage points. The Conservative Party and the Labour Party are tied at sixteen percent, with the Conservatives decreasing by two percentage points and Labour also decreasing by two percentage points. The Liberal Democrats are at fourteen percent, showing no change since the previous poll.
π¨| This is NOT a drill, Greens are in SECOND place with YouGov, their highest ever vote share recorded with any pollster
The Greens have replaced Labour.
π₯Latest Opinion Pollπ₯
Reform: 23%
GREEN: 21%
-
Labour 16%
Conservative 16%
Liberal Democrats 14%
(YouGov, 1-2 March, 2,073 respondents)

The blatant Islamophobia that Keir Starmer is demonstrating through smearing Mothin Ali would be shocking - but it's becoming a pattern.
Smearing a caring man of principle for standing up for peace.
Well between them they could shut down the Government, so it's either a coalition or second election (probably)
The positive part of this: Greens supplant Labour.
The negative: Reform/Tory Coalition.
Voting Intention, sourced from LordAPolls between nineteen February and twenty-three February, displays a bar chart of five political parties and their respective support levels. Reform UK is in the lead at twenty-two percent, which is a decrease of three percentage points since nineteen February. The Conservative Party follows at twenty percent, showing a decrease of one percentage point. The Green Party stands at nineteen percent, representing an increase of one percentage point. The Labour Party is at seventeen percent, reflecting a decrease of one percentage point. Finally, the Liberal Democrats are at eleven percent with no change in their standing since the previous poll.
π¨ The Green Party are just THREE points behind Reform UK, approaching first place in the polls. π
π¨ It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work.
This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public.
Please spread the word.

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood shifts government language from addressing legitimate concerns to "legitimate grievances" and the legitimacy of "resentment" of asylum seekers & spending
She does contrast this with a view she will exclude as illegitimate, which is "hating everyone who is not white"
Thank you for showing leadership.
I also don't understand how people can think they can bomb Iran and not expect them to retaliate.
