π―. Relatively minor, largely text editing revisions shouldnβt have to go back to the reviewer. And made worse if the reviewer wonβt look at it again so they get another reviewer and thereβs another whole set of commentsβ¦
Happy birthday to Charles Darwin,
patron saint of tired scientists, grumpy fieldworkers, and hating your own manuscript.
I know hamlet taxonomy is tough, but looks to me like at least one is an indigo hamlet?
Paper accepted. 100 day streak on Wordle broken. This day could go either wayβ¦

You need the satisfaction of that final step where you add line numbering and double space it and can sit back and say "NOW it's ready to go"
Congratulations!

So tough to find people, especially in the summer. Have you asked the authors for more potential names? Sometimes they know people in the field who are hard for the rest of us to find (and have more names beyond their original list)
Great to work with Frances and the rest of the team on this one! π¦
Think about timing - our grad application deadline is in Dec so I am unlikely to be thinking seriously about new students in the spring semester. Early fall is ideal as I build towards that deadline. And if you apply after the deadline thatβs not going to workβ¦

TLDR; if you own this guy, be careful not to let it escape!
Great to see this paper come out at link.springer.com/article/10.1.... Former lab grad student Lanie Esch did a great job looking at fish in the FL aquarium trade and working out which were the biggest risks as future invasive species based on release probabilities and chances of establishing.
Annual GRFP thread, more relevant than ever (# of awards down 50%).
This thread is for students who didn't win the GRFP today. Who are wondering if they belong in science, or scrolling through posts that start "So excited to announce..." with a little spurt of bitterness they arenβt proud of. 1/9
Congratulations to Dr Sara Schoen for defending her PhD dissertation on Tuesday. Always a good week when we get to bring out the fibreglass barracuda!
