When I hear it’s dead I kindly remind people 4chan sees about half a million posts per day across its boards, and that’s been remarkably steady for years.
When I hear it’s dead I kindly remind people 4chan sees about half a million posts per day across its boards, and that’s been remarkably steady for years.
I searched and searched, struggling to find any prior reporting where someone hit this 4chan board head-on before. I hope this can fill in that gap, because a forum making this stuff that sees ~7k posts per day needs to be at front of mind as the world fights back against this kind of abuse.
I chose not to name them because I didn’t want to accidentally write a how-to guide. But it’s a mix of everything from defeating safeguards on big company’s tools (like Grok) and making LoRA models of open-source software to run on local hardware, out of view.
One of the internet's most active hubs producing sexually explicit AI "deepfakes" is hiding in plain sight on 4chan, where users on a NSFW board have victimized countless women and girls. The problem is getting worse, and it seems no is trying to stop it.

A chart shows the daily number of posts on 4chan’s “Adult Requests” imageboard recorded by Open Measures between Mar. 1, 2025, and Mar. 1, 2026. Daily activity on the imageboard nearly tripled over the analysis period we reviewed, peaking in January 2026.
Also... some reporters and researchers have been writing off 4chan as a dying website. That's so untrue it's absurd.
Daily activity on this single board, which is all but dedicated to nonconsensual deepfakes now, nearly TRIPLED over the past year.

NEW: One of the most active hubs for sexually explicit AI "deepfakes" is hiding in plain sight. My latest takes a hard look at a 4chan board that's acting as a factory floor for online sexual abuse — where its users have victimized untold numbers of women and girls.

Stay tuned -- we'll have the piece up shortly.
Some prior research pieces have sort of talked around this place, but what's happening there is disgusting -- potentially illegal -- and it deserves its own spot in the conversation around how to hold people accountable for this kind of online sex abuse.
If you were horrified by Grok making sexually explicit deepfakes of women and girls, you will want to read the research/reporting I have coming out later today. One of the most-active venues for that type of abuse is hiding in plain sight, and AFAIK my piece is the first to confront it head on.
Presented without comment.
Panel one: what a senator said about AIPAC, which lobbied against holding countries receiving US military support to international law
Panel two: how ADL characterized and condemned his remarks
New from 404 Media: Proton Mail, the privacy-focused email service, gave authorities data that let the FBI unmask an anonymous 'Stop Cop City' protester. It was payment data linked to the anonymous email account. From that, FBI ID'd them, then tracked their movements www.404media.co/proton-mail-...
If you're at the airport and Kristi Noem is doing the ominous little message from the TSA screens, you no longer have to do anything she says. Leave your laptop in the case, whatever.
The Administration’s signature issue has been a colossal, violent failure and it looks like they’re gonna make Noem take the fall for it
Conspiracy theories about Jeffrey Epstein have been in circulation for what feels like ages. But advances in AI image generation tools have taken things to another level.
We looked at how AI images were used to promote fake claims on the back of the "Epstein Files"

The "Epstein Files" have generated immense public interest, making them a ripe subject for bad actors looking to push lies.
We examined how AI-generated images were used to supercharge viral false claims, inspiring offline activity and hostile state actors.

… they bombed a school
Smart piece from @megansquire.bsky.social arguing that the proliferation of AI “deepfake” nude images should not be thought of just as a social/cultural issue, but as a cybersecurity threat. The production of this stuff plugs into a world that’s often criminal.

You cannot make billions dollars with hurting, exploiting, and crushing other people on the way there. If there's an ethical way to do it, we haven't seen it manifest yet. That level of personal wealth should viewed with fear, not admiration.
An article claiming US troops were told the Iran War is meant "to cause Armageddon" and usher in a return of Jesus Christ made waves on Bluesky yesterday. We saw at least 2,250 posts that repeated its core claims.
The story could be legit, but this article raises some reasons to be skeptical.
Influential right-wing voices are trying to heal the divide in MAGA media over Trump's war in Iran by urging the president to target American Muslims for denaturalization and removal.

ICE under Trump 2.0 built an unprecedented media operation - deploying videographers to raids, pumping out edgy social posts, swiping pop music for hype videos - and the main metric for evaluating its impact shows that Americans now hate ICE more than ever

I have always considered one of my top strengths as a journalist/researcher to be that I never hesitate to say “I don’t know.” Not gonna waste your time or mine, or insult your intelligence by blabbering platitudes and bullshit.
I could not survive as a lawyer.
When your lawyer starts letting it loose in the prose, you should know your case is on its death bed. This is what people do when they don’t have any evidence to back themselves up, they just start repeating themselves and trying to dress it up
