Think of England branded condoms in a box
A "naughty" playing card with a saucy snap of a woman
Thoroughly enjoyed hosting the Think Of England Q&A at Glasgow Film Festival tonight. Audience questions totally on point as always. Meanwhile, their viral marketing continues to be a triumph. Tonight free condoms and playing cards

We Believe You - Film Review - Eye For Film
A mother does everything she can to protect her children from their father at a custody hearing.
Today's Glasgow Film Festival recommendation - I'm only going to recommend films that still have tickets left. We Believe You is an incredibly tense court case film. This isn't my review but I love how it talks about the directorial craft www.eyeforfilm.co.uk/review/we-be... #GFF26 #FilmSkyπ¬

Sound Of Falling - Film Review - Eye For Film
Four girls, Alma, Erika, Angelika, and Lenka, each spend their youth on the same farm in northern Germany. As the home evolves over a century, echoes of the past linger in its walls. Though separated ...
Glasgow Film Festival is on so I'll try to remember to do a daily film recommendation. Today, it absolutely has to be Sound Of Falling, which was one of my top 5 films of last year. This excellent review isn't mind but captures the spirit of it perfectly - www.eyeforfilm.co.uk/review/sound... #GFF26

Admiring the fortitude of our resident crow pair this morning, as they 'police' the roof opposite in an attempt to dissuade the black back gulls from nesting there. I'm pretty sure it's cos the crows use the roof as a sort of 'pantry' - I've seen them tuck food around the tiles then 'harvest' bugs.

Sorry, forgot the alt text there but it's basically a snippet from Wikipedia talking about Tom Swift and His Electric Rifle that references it stopping a "rampaging whale"

One of the problems with "intrusive thoughts" going mainstream is that people don't understand that the whole reason why these thoughts are *intrusive* is that they are *unwanted* and don't align with a person's values and views

Tom Burke's mam wins a major film-acting award before Tom Burke!
(and she was the Cathy in the 1970 WUTHERING HEIGHTS opposite Dalton, topically enough.)

This is why I'm pleased I mostly watch non-English language films. The formula in the Anglosphere just gets worse.

All sorts of Chabrol films on Arte's YouTube channel! Last time I looked, only Chabrol films on Blu-ray were later ones, and DVDs of his 1960s/1970s heyday were prohibitively expensive. (Downside for monoglots: only subtitles are auto-generated French ones.) THANK YOU @robinalexbaker.bsky.social !

Also, I think the cultural media environment can be really bleak these days but I'm very grateful for all the friends I've made in Park City at Sundance down the years and enjoyed meeting new people this year too that hopefully I'll see again in Boulder.

Caught up with Josephine on the Sundance platform today and, oof, could see that winning the top prize. Absolutely excellent use of shifting perspective to keep you with the young protagonist and bring home the fundamental horror of being a witness to a terrible event. #Sundance2026 #FilmSky
