Lol, sure thing
Lol, sure thing
Oh please, you're doing the exact same thing I was pointing out. Looking for reasons to be mad after the fact.
If the leafs had won that series you'd talk about Matthews laughing like it was still hilarious
Yeah, not getting into a pointless scrum with an injured wrist is totally dumb for some reason
And gudas put up zero fight and was escorted off the ice before the leafs bench even knew what happened
Some children of the corn shit
Jeff Perry's eyes will haunt me forever
We all agree, this is 100% his fetish, right?
I think the biggest issue remains that Matthews or Marner just wasn't a MacKinnon or McDavid style psycho
They all knew it was the last shot of glory and did all they could. Also they must have been on SO many pain killers
I think bunting was a perfectly cromulent addition and filler for what Hyman brought as a leaf, ideally you have both
Yeah, moving Marner changes so much. Still not sour about human, he 100% didn't earn that contact and tried to play the leafs by basically openly negotiating with the Oilers before free agency.
Good on him for proving it later, but it was more than logical to walk
I'm just so annoyed because if Tavares is healthy or Matthews was wrist is even at 50% the leafs win in 5 or 6 and suddenly theyre a scrappy team that took out the hottest goalie since Thomas
Yep, that price run was legitimately one of the best goaltending playoff performances in modern times.
I also think the leafs do care about each other, at least on a normal level for a team. I mean, apparently domi and Matthews are besties and domi is supposed to be some wild and crazy guy and here we are
Yep, and people also love to pretend that the habs were some flash in the pan garbage that the leafs folded and they didn't tear through everything in the east to the finals even easier than they did the leafs
Sure, they could always do more, I'm just saying they're about league average, not a bunch of baby cowards like people are reacting.
I also think one of the issues is that this roster is talked about in the same breath as the 2021 roster etc. and they are very different.
That team was a perfect storm sort of deal. ran into the one thing that could stop them, insane goaltending, and Tavares, Matthews and Marner were all out of it so they couldn't score that one extra goal they needed. Matthews wrist is just a little better and that post in game 6 is in and it's over
Which is fine! Wanting vengeance is normal and justified. But i'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the ignoring reality as a whole for this stuff.
The leafs should have taken their pound of flesh, but they also don't never take their pound of flesh
That's the funny part! Both are true! And unconnected.
Matthews's wrist was already at 30% and fighting there wouldn't make Marner not freak out or price not play insane or Tavares healthy.
Yep
One thing I often look back on is Matthews laughing in a guys face in a scrum.
Leafs fans fuckin loooved it. It was hilarious and cool and rad.
Then they lost and it was embarassing, weak and wimpy
Yep, and caring being good is dependent on winning.
All things equal, if the leafs had made the finals once and the semis another time they'd totally care, somehow
I'm sure 15 games into next year he'll lose his tree and get Ragdoll'd and we can can play the leafs don't care but domi cares game again
Remember the glazing domi got for his zadorov tantrum? Remember how 'at least he shows he cares' ?
Last night is proof as anything that he doesn't care
Some of y'all forget how bad you wanted Kadri gone for doing what you're yelling for now
For me, it's that we literally have like a dozen very memorable leafs taking measured psychotic revenge moments and they are always swept away because this one incident happened.
What's that old leafs addage? Every win an exception, every loss an indictment?
That, but for everything
Part of the issue is leafs fans watching the Panthers and Bruins get away with shit for 20 years and it's checked as 'normal' vs the leafs not doing it 'enough' kinda thing.
Want them to do it more? Cool, but they do it at as much as most NHL teams do
This isn't specific commentary on the Matthews hit, but I think a big part of the 'tough image' issue is that lots of leafs fans have confirmation biased themselves into thinking that the leafs never do the thing while everyone else always does the thing.
Told a guy at work he reminds me of hugh Dillon, which was apparently a bad idea because they're cousins or something and he fuckin HATES Hugh Dillon
