There’s a great website called thesession.org to find folk music sessions in your area which are often a gateway into a whole wider world of community and well… I guess it’s a resistance isn’t it?

I think decades of test-centric education has hurt kids, and I am certain the waves of book banning will hurt them more. We have to create new kinds of book-positive, kid-positive spaces for the next generation, because our schools are stretched too thin to do so.

I think our society desperately needs to invest in literacy and literature and in rebuilding our communities as communities of readers.
I actually see a lot of local bookstores doing this kind of work. There's an undercurrent of excitement about reading for fun that is beginning to bubble up.

Thinking a lot today about how reading rates are dropping (despite all the studies that reading is really good for people), writers are struggling to survive, and publishing companies keep consolidating into bigger, more vicious conglomerates.
It's an ugly, massive Gordian knot.

If I can ever sell my novel about a demon you can inherit, you will get to read the fictionalized stories of 4 generations of my Wagner forefathers!
Spoiler: ALL OF THEM WERE ASSHOLES.

One was a wheat farmer; the other was a ranch hand/carnie who used different aliases in different towns -- leading us to suspect he was also some kind of criminal.

Today, full legal protection has been granted in Wales and beavers are recognised as a native species by the Welsh Government. This brings Wales in line with Scotland & England, ensuring cross-border consistency.
