I hope that someday there's some way to accomplish shader compilation in a better or way or something. Twice in the past day I've played demos that had several minutes of it on the first startup. Cronos: The New Dawn and Pragamata (which was almost 10 minutes!).
Hell yeah, super looking forward to VHOLUME after the demo. The highlight of Next Fest for me.
I know a lot of it is lack of optimization on the dev's part most likely. But this has been the case with almost every UE5 game I've tried to run. Most I have to scale down to 1440p or even 1080p. Lossless scaling's been doing a lot of heavy lifting for me lately.
UE5 is wild. I know people clown on it's performance but it's kind of true. Played a demo of a game (CTRLSINK) and the area I started in was honestly about on par detail wise with the original Quake levels. But my GFX card (4080 super) was blowing like a jet engine couldn't maintain a steady 60 fps
Was always baffled that they decided to remove swimming in a game featuring an aquatic race.
Early Carcass vibes, just with far less gore.

The dichotomy between a simulation/strategy game and a *Paradox* simulation/strategy game.
The quantity of games in general is really doing a number on me. What's it called? "Choice paralysis" I think? I've got so many games half-finished and a backlog that, frankly, is longer than the remaining time I have on this earth. Too frequently I end up not playing anything because I can't decide
Isn't this a sequel (or semi-sequel) to Serpent in the Staglands? That was an interesting game from what I played of it, but I ended up falling off several hours in. Though that's more on me than the game. I'm just bad about doing that in general.

Never been big into MP of any sort, but even I miss the days of being able to host your own servers in games like Quake and UT. Middleware seemingly has killed the possibility of that being much of a thing anymore.

Major whiplash going from this to it's sequels. I remember playing this after Tekken 3 and thinking it was alright but going back to T3 pretty quickly. Then the sequel came out and it was an entirely different kind of game and they never went back.
They *really* need to filter the room names though, or auto-name them. Saw some pretty nasty room names when I tried it the other night. Fully half of them should've been reported/banned but afaik there wasn't an option to do that.
Every time I play an Unreal Engine game I wonder what the decision making process was behind making all these games have two separate executables run when you launch it.
Played the Airframe Ultra demo. Was loving everything about it until I got out of the tutorial. Only option was to play online (yuck), and over half the rooms available were named extremely racist names ("Burn/Kill all the *blank*, etc, etc.)
Hopefully there'll be a worthwhile SP campaign on launch
Kudos to Valve for how much work they did making it as streamlined as it is. Releasing a linux based handheld like this could have easily been a nightmare for the end user, but the Deck just works the vast majority of the time.
I just got an Ayn Thor and the user experience is night and day really.

Heard that before trying the demo and wondered what people were talking about. Didn't really have issues killing anything and I did use lock-on.
I will agree though that the weapon sounds could use a little more oomph but tbh it didn't really bother me.

Games (and tech) have the wildest stories about interviews and company culture I've ever heard. Worked many jobs in my life and I've never encountered anything like what I hear regularly here.
Immediately wishlisted. Absolutely loved Sprawl. Couldn't really tell from the trailer, will this have the same movement (wall running, etc)? I saw some sliding in there for sure.
Was so hyped for RE2 when it came out. I spent so much time playing the demo. Tore it open with gameshark codes, unlocked most of the weapons and some items from the main game that they left in there.
Still haven't played RE3 though. Mainly due to the fact that I got my first PC in between 2 and 3.
