if steam is asking developers to put in an AI-generated content disclosure, i should be able to filter those "games" out of searches because trudging through next fest demos is miserable now

I know it's meant in good faith but "if we just made smaller scope games and charged 20-40 dollars for them it would fix the industry" is very funny to me. indies release like 20 of those a week on steam. are you buying them? is the industry fixed? no? hm. sounds like you need a different solution

Being a "SMALL INDEPENDENT TEAM" should not be an excuse we accept when it comes to using AI in game development. I would much rather see people open MS Paint and draw doodles there than see awful AI generated mascots shoved down my throat.

Hell yeah 30% is too high. Maybe it's not too high for a giant AAA game who actually has their game get shown to players.
But to us indie game devs, you put your game on Steam, have to direct all the traffic there yourself, and then Steam says you're welcome and takes 30% of your money.
Got some animations going in engine. Positions are a bit wonky, so it's still a WIP. Super excited though!

I’m seeing increased use of this word and I just want to gently suggest that if there’s one word you can manage to remove from your vocabulary it should be this one.
It was coined by a eugenicist who used it as a diagnosis to forcibly institutionalize and sterilize mentally disabled people.
