the strategy.

Sure there is benefit of transparency in this new hyper-connected world order. But it also reduced the manoeuvring room for world leaders, and especially the ones who care too much about saving face, and have juvenile populist fanbases.

When someone is "given a face-saving off ramp", their own base immediately gets to read that this is an off-ramp within minutes via social media experts monitoring the situation, and thus they cannot actually take that off-ramp, because the face is not being saved anymore when everyone sees through

defence advisors would actually negotiate tough deals on the sidelines.

Now none of that is actually possible.

Back in the 90's and early 2000's international leaders could play the game of posturing with certain statement to domestic audience while doing something else at an international forum, or heads of state could make smiling handshake gestures at international conferences while their entourage of

The real meaning of words "climbdown", "off-ramp", "strategic realignment" tend to fade when everyone and their uncle is already reading between the lines and the populace whom the leaders want to posture in front of are quickly explained the 'behind the scenes' via social media experts within

Hyper-connected social media and the type of cults it enables creating, is sadly quite incompatible with the formerly established global order of international diplomacy.

The Twitter app had been crumbling under disrepair (by app I mean the app on mobile, not Twitter as a whole)

The UI and general experience on BlueSky is so much better - no random crashes, slick interactions, crisp icons.

How cool is this: this is from the Bluesky firehose!

What's so cool about this is:

1. The throwback style

2. That *any* dev can do this! Thanks to there being an API for this (no other social network allows this AFAIK)

This API is a big reason to be bullish on Bluesky

I really don’t understand this whole β€˜stay on Twitter and fight’ thing. You’re jousting with bots and reply guys and wading through ads it’s not Waterloo.

I wish the EV-retrofitting of timeless classic cars becomes a mainstream thing (some small shops do it already)

Things things of beauty shouldn’t land in scrapyards.

Wow this actually feels like old Twitter.

Not 2010 Twitter, but somewhat like 2016 Twitter.

The ability to select different feeds is pretty nice.
