Republicans win the House, NBC News projects, as Trump's party takes full control of Washington President-elect Trump now has a clear path to enact his agenda and fill out his administration with both chambers of Congress in GOP hands come January.

With Republican control of the White House and Congress, there will be pressure for spending cuts to help pay for tax cuts.

Trump said Medicare and Social Security cuts are off the table, and defense cuts are unlikely. That leaves Medicaid and the ACA as targets.

Those of us immersed in health policy focus a lot on containing costs. What voters really want to hear about is what can be done to contain THEIR health care costs. Affordability is the issue that resonates across the political spectrum.
