We have just put our name to an open letter by the National Low Income Housing Coalition asking Congress to stop Musk/DOGE from gutting the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The below is from @preblestreet.bsky.social. If anyone can make the state's role in all this make sense, we are all ears!
Former Maine Senate President Troy Jackson understands the importance of a new approach to housing and putting labor unions front and center in producing it. We're proud to have his support!
Former Acting US Sec. of Labor, and our Advisory Board member, @mrsethharris.bsky.social spells out how labor and housing are connected and what this Initiative can do. Thanks for your support Seth!
Winning housing justice requires joining with everyone else who is fighting for it. We are happy to do so with the @mainepeople.bsky.social!
Addressing society's biggest problems requires a pro-worker approach. Otherwise, poverty, inequality, and corporate power will only continue to expand. The Maine Labor Climate Council understands this better than most and we are proud to partner with them!
Check out @laborhousing.bsky.social and their new initiative to address housing AND workers rights!
Doing things as they have always been done to solve the housing and homelessness crises does not make sense. Many people both in and out of government recognize this. We thank Mane Secretary of State @shennabellows.bsky.social for her support!
In case you missed our (Maine) press release yesterday:
www.newenglandlaborhousinginitiative.org/news/launchp...
Gosh that was fast! Although if Elon Musk thought we were "authentic" that perhaps would be more concerning...
A key part of this Initiative will be partnering not just with labor unions, but also with organizations fighting for housing justice and working to end homelessness. One of these partners is the Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter & Services in Waterville, Maine.
I am very excited to be a part of this! Please give the Initiative a follow and share.
@maineaflcio.bsky.social
And we are glad to have you!
