I would say it was possibility one of the most difficult and frustrating issues I faced during my years as PGCE staff.

Any examples of a mentor teacher teaching KFC being told by a trainee that it wasn’t maths? Not sure how I might handle that! (As ITE supervisor). Actually I do. We had it often (not always KFC though).
