As a fan, I feel like all we can do is trust the C's medical staff, the org leadership, and maybe most importantly, JT himself (to know his own body). Fingers crossed that he can get eased back in at his desired speed in time to ramp up for playoffs.
Pretty clear that Trump's advisors have figured out the way to sell him on foreign conflicts is this model: we'll just easily decapitate the leadership and place our own vicero- er, democratic leader - in charge of the regime (see also: Cuba and Raulito Castro in coming days).
Trump take PAO literacy?
This is their aim, yes. Notably, it's also what they're going for in Cuba - replace Raul Castro with his grandson Raulito, regime stays in place, but presumably the pre-revolution landowners are allowed to come back and reclaim their "property." Oligarchy at the point of a gun, instead of communism.
Leo Terrell, Chair of the DOJ Task Force to Combat Antisemitism and DOJ Senior Counsel, emo-posting "Nothing is more hurtful than discovering what you thought was a deep friendship is in fact completely fake."
Why are senior DOJ officials posting from their official Twitter accounts like it's an AOL Instant Messenger away message from 2002?
Needs more Dashboard Confessional lyrics, though (or was that just me? Don't answer that).
Let me ask you this - what if it's not Iran?
I think the KD injury cemented an idea of what the correct timeline was in a lot of people's minds, when it actually may have been an outlier in its length.
It's hilarious to think that Brad Stevens of all people would sign off on rushing him back.
It feels to me as though this sinking was broadly for content aims, rather than strategic ones (though I know the administration has been messaging that eradication of the iranian navy is an aim). Which would mean we've endangered our relationship with the Quad for...content.
ARCHIEEEE my young son!
It is WILD.
Pedro still has to keep running. Why is he putting his arm up and pulling up? Let them put the flag up but you have to keep going.
It's actually stunning. This is like how Archie got a yellow for booting the ball out after a goal and no one else did for doing the same during the same matchweek.
They must have made the police chiefs leave their phones outside or something. I don't know how no one has asked her yet.
It definitely is, but presumably someone has news alerts on their phone...
How has no one asked her yet???
Speaking as someone who used to have to worry about this stuff, Mullin's nomination hearing would be an excellent time to litigate both 1) ICE/CBP conduct & policy and 2) no-bid contracts given to Noem's allies. Get him to commit under oath to clawing back the money and investigating procurement.
Should be a normal and not at all combative nomination hearing. You would think he'd get kid gloves as a senator, but I don't get the sense his Democratic colleagues like him very much and his personality seems to be "grumpy asshole."
I think AI or AI-powered platforms can be a really useful tool in investigative research - I just use it for mapping shell companies instead of TE 40 times. But it can't replace instinct or creativity (or the ability to understand human nature), which are the things I look for when hiring new people
Since leaving government, I've had a lot of people ask me if I'd be interested in designing a tool that functionally automates vetting or investigative research using GenAI. Mina's description of the process being more important than the end result resonates very much with why I've pushed back.
It's terrible. I have no idea how a family is supposed to be able to go to a game - they say we're trying to grow the sport over here through the WC, but I don't know how the door isn't completely shut to anyone but the top 1% of earners.
And that Grimace as a last name was an Ellis Island special (like my family's name being Von Mayer once upon a time).
How do you think that affected your approach to school? I had to work some pretty terrible jobs (particularly as a temp) during the GFC/Recession and it definitely made me bust my ass in grad school because I wasn't going to do that again.
Strongly agree with this - having to have a real job (even if it isn't directly related to your degree and/or sucks) prepares you considerably better to deal with grad school and frankly, gives you life experiences to contribute in class, rather than just your undergrad opinions.
It sucks, man. Trump aside (and thatβs a big aside), the prices are so exorbitant that I donβt know how theyβre going to fill the stadiums. Even the cheapest base ticket at the worst games in the group stage are just under $500.
PEPFAR, the program to stop hundreds of thousands of children and adults from dying of HIV/AIDS, was $6.5 billion a year.
Donβt you goddamn think about it, you psychopath.
Of course he did. As a white guy sort of in politics: what?
