We urge Jewish institutions to work in good faith with the new administration to advance efforts that address all forms of hatred and bigotry.
Together, we can help build a city grounded in justice, dignity, and care for every New Yorker.

We will work with him in his pledge to fight antisemitism and share his conviction that “no one should experience violence because of their race and ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity.”
The ADL’s racist and Islamophobic attacks on our mayor-elect undermine our shared commitment to confronting both antisemitism and Islamophobia in New York City.

We congratulate mayor-elect Zohran K. Mamdani on his election and applaud his vision for “a New York City that is free from hate violence.”
Regardless of how we or members of our institutions voted in the race, or how our views of Israel and Palestine align with or differ from his, we stand firmly against the Islamophobic and racist attacks from the institutions claiming to represent our communities.

A special thank you to the “Jews for Zohran” campaign - our comrades and collaborators at JFREJ and JVP Action – who mobilized tens of thousands of Jewish New Yorkers to embody the spirit of diasporic Jewish life: linking arms across class, race, religion and experience toward a city that can allow everyone to have more and more goodness.

We offer thanks to the over 1 million New Yorkers who voted for positive change. For a leader who cares about the greater good, and for setting a new standard for political leadership.

We offer gratitude to the 100,000 volunteers who knocked doors and phone banked and had hard, important conversations. You embodied the rabbinic dictum, "It is not up to you to finish the work, but neither are you free to abandon it,” and by doing so together, you did, indeed, finish the work. You all did good!

We congratulate Zohran Mamdani on becoming the mayor elect of New York City. This is a moment of great celebration for the possibilities inherent in this historic mayorship. We believe that he is a leader who will protect the most vulnerable and hold the powerful to account. Yes, we believe Zohran as mayor is good for the Jews!

Anti-Mamdani Letter Draws Support from Liberal Rabbinate
The letter revealed a split between liberal rabbis backing the mayoral nominee and those opposing him over his positions on Israel.
“The liberal Zionist vision of Israel has never, for a moment, been the reality of the Jewish state. There’s a human cost to that political commitment, and it comes on the backs of Palestinians" - R4C Founding Director @alissashira.bsky.social in @jewishcurrents.bsky.social

Israel has decided to deport two Jewish American women for attempting this act of nonviolent co-resistance – these two women are teachers of righteousness. For Israel to deport them is an avera, an unholy transgression. We encourage all to join us in naming it as such.

That is why internationals come to help with the olive harvest – in hopes their presence will deter violence from the Israeli settlers and military. Yesterday, a group of activists from the program Achvat Amim (Solidarity of Nations) were detained for trying to support Palestinian farmers in harvesting the fruits of their trees that would become life-sustaining income for their families. This kind of solidarity is holy work; these activists are constructing the building blocks of a shared, stable future.

The olive harvest is underway in the West Bank. For Palestinian farmers, this harvest is a family tradition dating back generations: the methods for how to collect the olives, how to process them into oil, and how to build community while doing it.
Again this year the olive harvest is taking place under violent conditions. Israeli settlers burn or cut down dozens of olive trees, some hundreds of years old. The Israeli military protects settlers as they attack Palestinians when they attempt to harvest their own crops. Some Palestinian farmers are simply unable to harvest at all due to this violence that the Israeli government allows and abets.

We await the world that the Talmudic blessing refers to: The world to come, when all people will enjoy a world with no war, no starvation, no illness; when swords are beaten into ploughshares, and the nations of the world will study war no more. It is on us to work for and realize that world.

Two people stand together smiling, one holding a sign saying "Save a Life, Save a Whole World."
A person stands facing backward with a shirt that says "Fascism, Now that's not Kosher! Equality and justice for all. If not now, when?"
Two people stand holding signs saying "Let all you are hungry come and eat" and "Not in our name - No to starvation, yes to solidarity!"
A person sits holding a sign saying "Jews Support Food for Gaza"
500 Jews and people of conscience are taking a stand in the pouring rain for life and freedom. Our tradition denounces these horrors and demands we cry out against them. Every human being is created B’tselem Elohim, in the divine image. If there is a hungry person, one must feed them. #NotInOurName
