I think it's great that the president put on his most solemnly branded baseball cap to receive the returning coffins of soldiers killed in the unnecessary war he launched to distract from his failing presidency and pedophilia scandal.

Look at that gold-like letting. Classy as shit.

The gulf between what people think of Tony Blair commenting on war in the Middle East & what Tony Blair thinks people think of Tony Blair commenting on war in the Middle East is positively Badenochian.

Reporter: Did the US bomb an elementary school and kill 175 people?

Trump: Based on what I’ve seen, it was done by Iran.

Reporter: Is that true Mr. Hegseth?
Hegseth: We’re investigating.

Trump: It was done by Iran. They are very inaccurate with their munitions.

It could not be more obvious that the president does not care about US service members and in fact regards their deaths as mere political inconveniences. He has more sympathy for Putin than Americans who died because he decided to wage illegal war. Just listen to him.

Keir Starmer is right to resist pressure from Donald Trump to ioin strikes on Iran.

This is a war of choice that is not only causing needless killing and suffering abroad, but could lead to a huge economic shock at home, massively worsening the cost-of-living crisis for Londoners.

Households in our city - and across the country - cannot afford the soaring
energy bills, food prices and increase in their mortgages this reckless
war could result in. The good progress this Government has made to bring
inflation under control could be undone.

While the brutal Iranian regime should rightly be condemned and
international pressure applied, the US and Israeli action is not the right
course to follow. The US have launched this military action, even though
it will do so much damage to our economy and those of our closest allies.

It's right that the PM is motivated by acting in the national
interest. Our country is best served by peace and stability in the Middle East
not chaos and carnage fuelled by illegal wars. It's why both Keir Starmer
and I opposed the lraq War more than 20 years ago

This war against Iran is being waged unilaterally without any international
consensus or UN approval, or any serious thought or strategy as to what
comes next. We know from experience it is much easier to start a war than
end one. Shock and awe is far easier than the hard task of healing broken
nations. This is partly why Britain should have no involvement in this conflict
beyond defensive actions to protect our citizens and allies from imminent
threats.

My thoughts are with Londoners and UK citizens in the region and all the
innocent civilians caught up in this senseless bloodshed - including the 165
schoolgirls and staff killed in an airstrike in Minab - as well as all the
Londoners who will be terrified about the safety of loved ones

I pray for a swift end to the fighting and urge our communities to do as they
always do, and not allow events overseas to divide us here in London.

The Roman Eifel Aqueduct
The aqueduct from the Eifel region to Cologne is the largest ancient engineering structure north of the Alps. As one of the most popular archaeological monuments in the Rhineland, it can still be experienced in many ways along the Roman Aqueduct Trail.
From the 1st to the 3rd centuries AD, the 95.4 km long aqueduct ensured the water supply of the Lower Germanic provincial capital Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium (Cologne) for at least 190 years.
It replaced the foothill aqueducts that had existed since 30 AD and supplied the city daily with 20 million litres of the finest drinking water from the
"SΓΆtenich Limestone Basin" near Kall.
The planning, route design, and construction are masterpieces of ancient engineering. Along its route, the aqueduct overcame an elevation difference of approximately 350 m as well as all natural obstacles.
As a gravity sewer, its route was adapted to the terrain and featured a varying gradient between 0.1% and 4.5%..

Construction of the Aqueduct
The so-called Roman aqueduct, constructed of solia stone and cast masonry, was lined internally with a sealing red water-repellent plaster. Its hydraulic properties were achieved through the addition of brick dust instead of volcanic ash, as used in other Roman aqueducts. A layer of blackish-gray wood ash, whose function was described by the Roman engineer Vitruvius in the 1st century AD, served to seal the finest hairline cracks. The largely accessible, U-shaped aqueduct was covered with a vault and featured inspection shafts that allowed access for cleaning, inspection, and repairs. Construction likely took less than five years, as work was carried out simultaneously on several sections.

This section, with sediment, was erected near the Cologne Roman city wall in 2020

Discovered 2016 in HΓΌrth-HermΓΌlheim, Rhein-Erft district.

At 95.4 km (c. 60 miles) it carried water to the city from the Eifel region.

"experiments like those conducted by U.S. psychologist Paul Piff suggest that it is natural for people who enjoy certain advantages to end up behaving in less empathetic ways

Piff demonstrated this with a rigged game of Monopoly, in which he observed that individuals who were randomly assigned a better starting position (more money) eventually displayed overbearing behavior: they became rude, consumed more shared resources, and, by the end of the game, attributed their success to their own skill, ignoring the fact that the game had been stacked in their favor."
