Once we're all on our feet, we can together build something that works for everyone. But... that would mean some people on top getting less. So they'd rather kick folks down, vilify the poor, and extoll this mythical worker who labors beyond ability. As once was said: Miss me with all of that.

Full honesty though: I'm far from the poorest. So do I expect those below me to pull themselves up by their bootstraps? Nah, f*ck that. I'll help them up.

Nah. "Handout" assumes the system works and they're getting a freebie. I'm "helping them up" from the wreck of our society.

If we had time to burn and labor to give, we could probably make that $$$. Policy has always treated the poor as lazy, instead of asking how much we work and wondering why that isn't enough.

Policy treats poor folk like we don't know the other two resources exist. Problem is that we know that way better than some rich prick living off investments and "working" if they want to.

We don't have those resources to spare. The answer is not and cannot be: Take their time and labor.

We can't cover. Most poverty measures offer to help with the $$$, but add Time and Effort costs. Work requirements on Medicaid and other benefits assume we weren't working already. Unemployment demands time to fill out forms and watch videos that could be spent working!

We need to stop talking about poverty like it's just money.

Money/Currency is just one of the three main resource types. The other two are Effort and Time.

Poor people (like me) aren't just poor in funds. We're short on time and energy too. If you lack 1, the other 2 can cover. But lack all 3?
