Leaves: A Plant-Based Musical

Some rough animation. Getting a bunch of shots ready for clean up! 🌸

Goal is to finish animating this musical number, then I'll go to the beginning of the pilot and animate each shot chronologically 🍃

Storyboard from the Leaves teaser preview. Characters Haleigh, Uldan and George cartoonishly lean into the frame from the left side and sing in unison. Each character looks human except they have large verbena flower petals and leaves instead of hair. The drawing is crude, just the bare minimum of lines to define their form and their facial expressions.

The same point in time as the previous storyboard, except now it's fully rendered with colour and clean lines. Haleigh has maroon verbena petals, Uldan has red, and George has purple. Haleigh has slightly-green tinted white Caucasian skin, Uldan is pale white, and George is black. Each character is wearing a school uniform, with yellow ties and blue shirts with white collars, and George has a dark blue jumper. George is implied to be fatter than the other two, but is the shortest, with Haleigh the tallest and Uldan in between.

Another crude storyboard, this time of Clarie, the main character. She's lying on her back as we look down on her from above. Her entire body sprawled. She looks somewhat wistful as she stares up above. Blue arrows indicate a rotating camera movement.

The previous shot but now it's rendered. Clarie has white skin, pink verbena petals, school uniform with green rolled-up trousers, purple socks, and simple brown shoes with a green band around the ankles. She doesn't look so wistful anymore, just staring up into the sky as she lays vulnerable.

Leaves: A Plant-Based Musical is about a world of flower people somewhat resembling ourselves. Clarie, an apprehensive high schooler, wants to ask out the least popular boy in school, but will her friends approve?
