There are a lot of posts out there with the close-up visual of Markwayne Mullin on January 6, but this is a better perspective.
He’s not protecting others; he’s protecting himself and hiding. You can see plenty of people at the entry door, ready to take on the insurrectionists, but not Markwayne.
Republican Legislators: "The President ordering the bombing of another country, his cabinet calling it a war, assassinating the country's leader and demanding surrender?... It's not a war, it's something else, and I don't know what you're talking about anyway so it's not fair to ask me questions."
That piece is just sanewashing something we should be mocking instead.
👇
Democrats may not be able to prevent Mullin's confirmation, but they can certainly turn his track record of offense and stupidity into two days of televised humiliation so spectacular that he is wounded in Trump's eyes from day 1. That is the job.
Noem is out largely due to massive public activism, especially in MN, Democrats expressing increasing interest in impeachment and investigations, and resulting media coverage.
Keep pushing. These people are not invincible or immune from public opinion.
@christianitytoday.com reviewed my book STUCK today:"The book is most useful..when Kornberg identifies the...changes Gingrich implemented to push most power into the House speaker’s office, changes she notes Democrats turned around and kept in place." www.christianitytoday.com/2026/03/cong...
A Reductress post features a photo of Kristi Noem with the headline, “Kristi Noem Put Down for Being Too Hard to Train”
Screaming
Mail-in voting has been a convenient and secure system, in many states, and many years, for tens of millions of Americans.
But news like this makes it harder to trust the post-office in general. If they *deliberately* misdeliver or destroy your ballot, you can't sue!?

It is so damning of US news media that so many outlets refuse to just straight up say that Senator Tim Sheehy assaulted an activist.
He did not "help" Capitol police. They did not need his help. He wanted to assault the guy and did. He should resign.
I like the “we’ve been at war with iran for 40 years” talking point because by implication surviving members of the reagan bush natsec team should be tried for treason
Promises made. Promises broken. [Cartoon by Adam Zyglis]
The same principle occurs when a fascist regime demands "loyalty oaths" or-else.
The goal isn't to create trust, they're not *that* stupid.
The goal is destroying others' trust: "He lied to the evil people to keep his job/life, but I can't help worrying: Is he lying to *us* to keep it again?"
Being Trump’s VP is a humiliation ritual.
"Humiliation ritual", exactly the term for everything involving a cult around a narcissist.
Importantly, there's a hidden extra purpose:
It's a way to isolate a person and cut them off from future escape. "We are your only choice. Nobody else will have you now."
Rubio Today: It’s false to say I said the U.S. had to attack because Israel was going to attack. That’s not what I said.
Rubio Yesterday: We knew Israel was going to strike Iran, and that would trigger attacks on U.S. forces. If we didn’t act first, Americans would suffer higher casualties.
Once again, a single cartoon tells more truth that the entire US Congress.
Thanks to Rick McKee for making our current situation easy to understand.
Trump Launches War with Iran and Refuses to Explain... Anything

* Republican legislators are preventing votes from happening because the Republican party is actively supporting what Trump does.
Even if some any didn't start that way, they'd become that way because it's how cults work.
They have to keep "fitting in" to a moving target that also alienates them from other people, so that they can't escape.
"Your home is here, you have no other choice, now nobody else will have you."
Since Mahmoud Khalil's initial immigration hearing, new evidence has come to light that makes clear the government targeted him solely for his speech.
That's why we have filed a new motion with the Board of Immigration Appeals urging them to consider these documents.
Republican legislators, why did you decide to launch a war without even voting on it?
No, stop pointing at Trump, You've had years to see exactly what kind of person he is and you've deliberately chosen to give him power and help him out at every single step of the way.
Kaine on Fox: "The president can act to defend US against imminent attack without congressional approval. But if you're going to initiate war, you need Congress. The president not only did not come to Congress, he acted without even notification to the vast majority of us. This is an illegal war."

I can personally say it's at least as old as late 90's dial-up, yet I wouldn't be surprised if there are some Sumerian clay tablets telling a similar tale of a foolish teammate.
Or blood-type incompatibility issues, where the safety of a pregnancy depends on which genes came from the mother and which came from the father.
Even today, between homo sapiens, things like RH-factor blood types can create a sex-based asymmetry in how bloodlines combine.
In other words, the odds of offspring from A♀ + B♂ aren't guaranteed to be the same as the swapped B♀ + A♂ .
Something similar back then wouldn't be surprising.
Right, it's worth highlighting that such asymmetries exist even today, right now, between different but relatively normal families in homo sapiens.
Yeah, we need to be on-guard for survivorship bias in its most literal form.
