Years ago I remember reading a review paper that compared Breeder's Equation forecasts of evolutionary change, against observed changes, to evaluate accuracy of quantitative genetic predictions of selection response. I can't find it now... anyone know of a good comparison along these lines?

Improving the cotton simulation model, GOSSYM, for soil, photosynthesis, and transpiration processes
GOSSYM, a mechanistic, process-level cotton crop simulation model, has a two-dimensional (2D) gridded soil model called Rhizos that simulates the below-ground processes daily. Water movement is based...

How useful are genomic data for predicting maladaptation to future climate?
Global Change Biology is an environmental change journal tackling issues such as sustainability, climate change and environmental protection.
Happy to see this out! @brandonlind.bsky.social tested genomic maladaptation (offset) estimates with common garden data for 2 conifers. Climate adaptation candidate loci were no better than random loci. Populations included in model building matter. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

About 50% of the improved yield from crops has come from genetics and half from agronomy in the last 75 years. This nice paper from X/@fred_stoddard , Kifle Belachew et al. discusses improved management of the legume Vicia faba crop to let it reach its potential pure.sruc.ac.uk/en/publicati...

Causal interpretations of family GWAS in the presence of heterogeneous effects
bioRxiv - the preprint server for biology, operated by Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a research and educational institution
Family-based GWAS have become the gold standard for assessing causal genetic effects. Theyβre often said to offer an unbiased estimate of the average causal effect (ATE) of an allele or PGS. Here, we (Carl Veller & @mollyprz.bsky.social ) evaluate such statements.
