I considered getting an iphone (specifically a 16 pro or base 17) for the past week. here's my main reasons for why I didn't:
- no clipboard history
- needing to pay to develop apps, only on macos
- no sideloading (even in the eu it's worse than android)
- rooting isn't always an option

It's sadly not just the libraries and users either, the compiler itself is kind of hard to get working on linux (nixos is still stuck on 5.10.1)

kotlin seems nice until they have you writing 40 lines (including an interface!) just to make an http request, even after adding a library for it. react and mdn have such good guides for newcomers too. I spent way too much time making sure I was reading up-to-date info with compose. 2/2
honestly after trying to use jetpack compose with like all the latest material you apis, I'm impressed by how nice frontend web development has become. sure js may have some stupid pitfalls, but it's really simple while still being relatively expressive. 1/2
