Loving this cartoonists' rendering of my talk in Amsterdam last month. The idea: focusing on the science of gut health can bring new energy to conversations about preventative health & extending 'healthspan'. Diet & lifestyle take center stage.
(Thank you to Amsterdam Green Campus for this output!)

This is fun -- an article on WHY gut health is such a big deal and how paying attention to gut health cuts through all the noise about health.

So does Akkermansia have a different role in development vs. adulthood? I don't think we understand enough about it yet.
In a previous life I was a practicing speech-language pathologist & stuttering is a real conundrum. It's treated behaviorally but research on etiology really needs a shake-up.

Atypical gut microbiota composition in a mouse model of developmental stuttering - Scientific Reports
Scientific Reports - Atypical gut microbiota composition in a mouse model of developmental stuttering
I'm excited to post about cool microbiome papers again -- I can't stop thinking about this one. It shows (in mice) that a gene mutation contributing to developmental stuttering is associated with a certain gut microbiota.
Akkermansia (normally good!) is increased.

Hi friends! I'm here. It's been a bit painful to let go of the other platform because it used to be such an enjoyable place, but I find no value in spending time there these days.
I continue to write words and more words... about gut health, the microbiome, and mystery topics to be announced soon π
