Opinion: Alaska Native Corporations’ ICE contracts endanger all Indigenous people www.adn.com/opinions/202...
✊🏼 Well stated @kenske.bsky.social
I have an op-ed in today's Anchorage Daily News about how dangerous Alaska Native Corporations' ICE contracts are.
Black graphic with text "ICE out of Minneapolis NOW"
ICE and CBP agents are out of control and put everyone in danger.
We're calling for ICE agents to withdraw from Minneapolis, and for Congress to rein in ICE’s abuses in our communities.
Holy crap.
This is the most damning video yet.
It shows Border Patrol agents clearly taking Alex's firearm, running it away, and THEN executed him in cold blood by emptying a clip into his face.
Murder.
Today, a second person was shot and killed in Minneapolis by ICE.
Video from the scene is deeply disturbing. What I saw does not look like de-escalation. It looks like force escalating into deadly violence.
I don’t want to hear anything from an elected official unless it’s a plan to defund the DHS and impeach Noem, Bovino, etc. No texts. No emails. No talk about the economy. Step up or step off.
The mid to long term game plan for Alaska Native Corporation organizing is a big, and scary, ask, but the sooner it happens, the sooner shareholders like me can go from protesting to advocating for specific demands to prevent this from ever happening again.
Is there any turmoil over Alaska Native Corporations and their disgusting ICE contracts? We hear so little about this and it’s been going on for years. They are loving the money in 2025. #akleg
We need to figure out how to properly propose bylaw, policy or procedure changes at each corporation, help writing language to stop these contracts, then organize shareholders of each one to get the proposals brought to a vote.
+find other shareholders to call protests and help them make it happen.

Trump's racism www.newsminer.com/opinion/lett...
Made the front page of the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner today. I also have a letter to the editor about NANA.
These ICE contracts use the same violence inflicted on Alaska Natives during the boarding school era- separating families and denying access to language and culture.
It is white supremacy.
The biggest conservative donors in the 2025 Fairbanks municipal elections were: • $16,000 from Republican Women of Fairbanks PAC to the conservative candidates (Hull, Haney, Rotermund, Pruhs, McComas-Roe, and Burnett) • $10,000 from Brett Rotermund to his campaign ($5,500) and the other conservative candidates • $4,700 from the Alaska Republican Party to the conservative candidates The biggest donors to progressive candidates were the operating engineers union (IUOE 302 PAC: $5,500) and electrical workers union (IBEW 1547 PAC: $5,000).
The "Republican Women of Fairbanks" PAC is the largest campaign funder in Fairbanks' local elections. Here are their top donors (2020-25): • Barbara Tyndall ($8,179), retired • Seth Church ($6,365), owner of Jewel Isaac, LLC and 14 other corporations and nonprofits that own residential rentals, commercial rentals, and more • Bernie Karl ($5,732), owner of Chena Hot Springs Resort and K&K Recycling • Bart LeBon ($4,155), former legislator • Cheryl Markwood ($3,139), owner of Markwood Realty, LLC and license holder for Republican Women of Fairbanks • Bill Vivlamore ($2,740), owner of Sunrise Bagel & Espresso • Mike Robbins ($2,240), owner of Project Alaska, Inc. Sources: State of Alaska APOC Database, 2020-25; State of Alaska Business License Database
Top Republican donors’ businesses in Fairbanks: Sunrise Coffee (Bill Vivlamore), Chena Hot Springs (Bernie Karl), Jewel Isaac + many more (Seth Church). Screenshots of state of Alaska records.
KUAC: At $3,000, Pruhs' largest contribution came from the Republican Women of Fairbanks, which gave the same amount to some other conservative candidates in this year's elections. Local author John Foley has given the biggest single donation to the O'Neall campaign at $5,000. Haney has the fundraising edge, according to the reports, with roughly $36,000 to Roach's $30,000. The Republican Women of Fairbanks have made the largest single donation to Haney's campaign, as well, also in the amount of $3,000. The biggest single contribution to Roach's campaign is $2,000, which came from Ellen Bagley, of Sitka.
The Republican Women of Fairbanks PAC is the biggest political spender in our local elections. Spoiler: their top donors are mostly men. It’s funded by the owners Chena Hot Springs and Sunrise Bagel & Espresso.
❌ Boycott big MAGA corps (Amazon, Spotify, Walmart, etc) AND local MAGA money. #AkLeg
Thank you. The last few days have been so stressful, I'm so happy this issue is getting so much coverage.
@kenske.bsky.social is one of the strongest moral voices in Fairbanks. He speaks truth to power. Every time.
“This is not and Iñupiaq, Inuit, Alaska Native or Indigenous issue. This is a human rights issue, and we all must work together to demand NANA divest, before more people suffer.”

President Trump and several others now high up in his second administration have been talking about using the National Guard to help with mass deportations — and possibly invoking the Insurrection Act — for years.
Now, those plans might be playing out.
Happy Halloween! It’s scary year round with this clown in office...#907initiative #YesManDan #SullivanShutdown #Alaska
I'm mentioned in this. Previous dividends weren't even enough to pay my rent. This round is, but not by a lot.
But none of it is worth human rights violations. @humanrightswatch.bsky.social has called our Akima's ICE facilities, this is documented and being ignored by NANA leadership and AFN.
“Bloomberg Businessweek, working with Kotzebue radio station KOTZ, found NANA held nearly 58.1% of ICE's 8(a) contracts over the past decade, a period during which it raked in about $1.2 billion.”
Thanks for tagging me! I happened to get in my car right before I heard my name come up lol
We shared this at the same time! I'm really surprised PJ Simon's AIDEA contracts didn't come up.
In April 2023, PJ Simon signed a $50,000 contract with AIDEA to push for the Ambler road project, just fyi.
Seeing the community work together to feed people as SNAP benefits get closer to lapsing is reminiscent of the Great Depression.
I suggest we call this era the Great Suppression.
