Whenever I play an ARPG that's too forgiving with the main campaign, I only start caring about the meaning of stats in endgame, which is when it's throwing _all of them_ at me at the same time

I had forgotten how much I appreciated POE for unapolagetically curb-stomping my sorcerer if my build is wack, even while leveling. It really makes me care early about the meaning of skills and affixes

What does it say about me that after a long day of back-to-back meetings, dinner prep and kiddo's homework, I was really looking forward to messing around with some gameplay code in spherical coordinates?

I know my trip to Chicago was the kind of rest I needed, because now I _desperately_ want to start a new game project I probably don't have time for.

Looking at my own Steam library, smaller games I haven't played in a bit are disproportionately represented. Though I'd also consider the possibility that "simpler" games that are easier to get back into is a factor

We ended up playing a game of what other band each track was reminiscent of:
Cut the Bridge -> Billy Talent
Two Faced -> Three Days Grace
Casualty -> Random 90's Punk Band
Stained -> Taylor Swift

The cynical part of my brain received it like market research for a future iteration or something.

So I got around to listening to From Zero last night on the drive home. I don't know if it's my nostalgia getting in the way, but I really struggled to find a through line or an identity in it.
