I usually stay away from heartwrenching "chasing dreams" narratives (which is why I have not read Blue Period or even Shiori Experience, even with the crazy good art vibes), but somehow, even with all its crazy emotional drama, BECK ended up being probably my favorite thing to read and re-read.
sometimes I think about this tho and wonder if it might just be an ADHD thing in my (and possibly others') case. never really got to talk about it with anyone. :"^)
but yeah it's still undeniable that short attention spans are being sown and reaped by The System for their own gain, even more so now
I felt it even before the sharp rise of short-form content tho haha. Like a lot of folks my age here simply did not want to engage in anything that didn't immediately pique their interest, so they'd ignore it entirely in favor of things that did. (and if they had to engage, it was very begrudging).
I feel it's def been trending towards that. Hell, I can say that /I/ hated reading for a long time, and it really affected my adulthood. ๐ฉ Short form content definitely didn't do literacy any favors, but I think the core disease has always the constant need for instant kicks, and only instant kicks.
