Today I'm thinking about our neighbours in Minnesota and across the United States, where so many are facing real struggles beyond the rink-from aggressive immigration enforcement and federal operations that have led to the deaths of US citizens and sparked national outrage in cities like Minneapolis, to recent rollbacks on reproductive rights and civil liberties that challenge people's basic freedoms. For many Americans, victories-even in sport-can feel like rare moments of hope in a time of deep division and pain. If the Olympic Games were able to lift the spirits of our neighbours to the south, maybe that's something worth recognizing. Here's to the power of sport.
